Bad ratchet,

The cork screw is beautiful in appearence. It works well at removing a cork from a bottle. Your screw it in. A ratcheting mechanism allows you to move the handle back without removing your hand form the corksrew, and then you pull out the cork using your own muscle power. However the stopping lever, supposed to hold the ratcheting worm in place, to allow you unscrew the cork off of the worm, does not hold the worm in place. It slips, making removal of the cork from the cork screw extremely difficult. I've had to remove the worm (it pops out easily with a push button) and hold the end with a wrench in order to remove the cork from the worm.

Beautiful tool, but not for everyone. Does not avoid force.,

Solidly constructed unit does what it says it does. Namely, it allows you to open
wine bottles without mechanical levers and tricks, and brings back the beloved "POP" you hear when removing a cork. The package actually states "WARNING: This tool is not for everyone. It does not avoid effort. If anything, it encourages the use of force." |
