I love Big Bands but Ladd McIntosh 's name was completely unknown to me until a heard some samples on Amazon. What a pleasant surprise! Just what I was looking for! I purchased both "Bulbous Garlic Blues" and "Ride The Night Beast" which is equally good. These recordings are about 10 to 15 years old but they sound great. Very pleasing and smooth but NOT LIGHT! I strongly recommend them to Big Band Jazz fans.
