4.0 out of 5 stars Good LED replacement bulb
I have been looking for literally several years for decent candelabra based bulbs for my chandelier (5x 40W) and a post light (3x60W). I have tried several CFL's and have been disappointed with their light quality, and life spans. At this point I've had 3 CFL's and 2 incandescent bulbs in the chandelier, and the conventional bulbs have out lasted the CFL's. (One...

2.0 out of 5 stars No Lumens listed!! Truth in Advertising please.
The manufacturer wants you to spend $30 on a bulb without telling you how bright it is. Are you kidding me?Virtually every bulb, especially LEDs and CFLs have lumens listed so you can compare them to "standard" incandescent bulbs. THis one doesn't, just a vague reference comparing it to a 15W bulb. The philips Candelabra bulb also uses 2.5W and compares itself to a 15W...

4.0 out of 5 stars Good LED replacement bulb, January 2, 2011
This review is from: Bulbrite LED2CTC LED Chandelier Candelabra Base, Clear (Tools & Home Improvement)
(One frustration, is every time if found the CFL's they only seem to have 1 or 2, plus the light quality hasn't been as pleasing and I desired some "instant On" illumination. I've also tried a couple of different color temperatures in the CFL's but it doesn't seem to matter.) In my opinion, the CFL's simply don't look pleasing. Anyway, I bought several of these LED's to try out. They are not as bright as the incandescent bulbs, however, when viewed side by side with the CFL's & incandescents, they really look pretty and blend right in, much better then the CFL's. I think they give a more pleasing light than the CFL's, plus they look both high tech and "right" in the chandelier. In my chandelier, there is a down facing E26 (medium) base socket so I have replaced a 16W CFL with an 8W LED, so there is plenty of light and the we finally have a light that looks beautiful, yet is energy efficient. (For me this is very important because with the layout of our house, this light is on virtually anytime we are home, now instead of approx. 260W, we are well lit for about 19W!!

I also tried these in my post lamp outside. this has 3x60W candelabra incandescent bulbs now. I love the look of the fixture but have been very frustrated by the lack of energy efficient options. Anyway I replaced the three 60W bulbs with three of these Bulbrite LED's and have been pleasantly surprised. Yes, there isn't as much light (as expected dropping from a 60W bulb), however the look is beautiful and these give off enough light that I'm not changing them back. I've asked my wife and several others if it looked good/bright enough and everyone thought it was fine. They were un aware that I had replaced the 60W bulbs with these LEDs. Again, if you look at the bulb when lit, it looks great, unlike the CFL's that look like a big white blob. For comparison sake, I'm also going to try a Philips Torpedo LED that appears to provide approximately 25% more lumens, but trade life span, however I'm keeping these bulbs.

All in all, these are nice, if not expensive bulbs. In their favor, they use very little electricity, they look elegant and yet high tech and should last many "guilt free" years.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pricey but works perfectly, July 25, 2011

I ordered two of these bulbs for the enclosed portion of a Tiffany style chandelier. Regular bulbs got too hot within the enclosure and threatened to melt the wiring. CFL bulbs didn't last very long, again probably the result of being in an enclosed space. These LED bulbs are perfect - no heat is generated so they should last for years. They're bright, with 15w of equivalency to standard bulbs at only 2.1 watts of consumption.

Interestingly, my two bulbs arrived in identical packaging with identical product codes but differed considerably. One has clear glass where you can easily see each of the LEDs while the other has frosted glass. The two bulbs otherwise appear identical. I don't mind since my two bulbs are enlosed in a colored-glass enclosure and you therefore can't tell the difference, but if your intent is to have several of these bulbs in a fixture where each bulb can be seen, you'd likely want the frosted glass variety. The two bulbs should definitely be in different packages and sold as different items.

In any case, both bulbs work perfectly, with all the LEDs brightly lit. The bulbs lose a star on the cost, since the price is rather high for a small bulb, but if they last as long as they should, the cost should trade off with the electrical savings.

4.0 out of 5 stars Contrary to the 2-star review..., December 6, 2011
By
Prof D (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
I am not affiliated with Bulbrite, or Amazon; I am just an interested party also shopping for the best replacement LED bulb of this type.

Contrary to the 2-star review, this product's manufacturer presents all important technical information on this product at their website:

Go to ... wwwDOTbulbriteDOTcom ...

At this site, search for LED2CTC or LED2CTF, and select the clear or frosted bulb-type you desire. (Note, another reviewer, a doc, indicates he was shipped a mix of these two model numbers, when only one was ordered.)

When the bulbrite webpage appears, the luminous flux value for this bulb (105-100 lumens) appears in a technical specs table at bottom of the page.

I would suggest that it is not fully the manufacturer's responsibility to ensure that every aspect of its specifications make it on to Amazon sales pages. Rather, there is nothing wrong with us going to the manufacturer's site to find the information that we need before buying. Ideally, of course, everything we wish to know, or see, will be exactly where we first look for them. In a perfect world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bright and robust, March 30, 2011

I bought this bulb to replace the 15W Candelabra light on my drill press. A regular incandescent bulb usually won't last for a few hours of use under the tools vibration. Swap in this bulb, and I immediately notice the increase in brightness. The color is slightly whiter than the filament bulb, but still has a warm yellow hue. I have used the tool a few times since then and so far there is no problem with the bulb. With the solid state technology, I expect this bulb to last for quite a while. I am very happy with the product.

I purchased this bulb for a night light that burns pretty much constantly and it's already outlasted every conventional bulb that I have tried! I really love it!

4.0 out of 5 stars These are good - if pricey, September 14, 2011

I put three of these in a ceiling chandelier fixture. They certainly throw enough light. It's not a warm white but color temperature is OK (not unpleasing). One caveat: You'll need a high quality dimmer. My basic rotary dimmer with these gives either "all on / full blast" or very dimmed.

UPDATE 12/29/2011

I have bought about 8 of these now. They are very good. I like the light they give off. The fact that they lower the heat produced in my overhead fan lite is a bonus (the old 15watt tungsten filament bulb lights were throwing off enough heat inside the unit to concern me). I can recommend these LED bulbs.

Ordered a few of these to test them out.

They are very bright for their wattage and I am generally quite pleased with them.

Main complaint is that they do produce noise, a constant buzzing sound almost like a light with a ballast system. Also they are not very pretty to look at...

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Expected, January 13, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bulbrite LED2CTC LED Chandelier Candelabra Base, Clear (Tools & Home Improvement)
Most other led lights are useless. I am happy with the light output and the way this light looks. It has a total of 32 smd's (surface mount diodes). 30 are vertical on 6 strips around and 2 are on top to shine out of the tip. It does not look like a flame when lit. It looks like an array of bright dots inside the bulb when lit. Kink of cool if you like a different look. The price is to high and I won't buy any more until they get down to twenty dollars or less. I hope this review helps

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful in my large salt lamp!, December 1, 2011

I'm very happy with this bulb for my huge salt lamp that I like to leave on. It isn't too bright and it isn't dim, and the lamp gives off exactly the same warm peachy glow that it did with an incandescent bulb, except I have 15W of glow for 2.1W LED. The lamp doesn't feel warm to the touch, so it is probably not giving off the same ions that it did when it got warmer with the incandescent bulb, but the lamp doesn't feel cold or clammy either. I've had it on for about two weeks and, with about 50% humidity in our house, the lamp is completely dry and not gathering any moisture from the air.

5.0 out of 5 stars A true LED alternative to traditional bulbs, August 5, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bulbrite LED2CTC LED Chandelier Candelabra Base, Clear (Tools & Home Improvement)
I have purchased several dozen of these bulbs and I am extremely satisfied with all of them. The look of the bulb is excellent and from a distance (10 ft or so) you can't even tell that these bulbs are LED. The color is a little whiter then traditional bulbs, however if all of your lights are the same it is impossible to notice. I have owned these bulbs for a couple of months so far, and I haven't had any issues. The quality on them seems top notch. I put these bulbs in the lights on either side of my front door, where old bulbs would burn out from the closing and opening of the door every month or so, and so far, I haven't had any issues with these. While it is true that these bulbs are a little more expensive, compared to others I tried, these bulbs have the best warm color and look the most like regular bulbs. Plus they give off more light. They seem brighter then 15w to me though, maybe more around 20, not that that's a bad thing.
