If you collect jewelry or jewelry books, this is a must for your library. Out of the forty or so books I have on jewelry, this is my favorite. As one might expect, there is page after page of breathtaking pictures of exquisite jewelry. However, this book offers so much more. Many of the jewelry pieces are shown next to the sketches that inspired them. A section of the book entitled `From the Idea to the Finished Product', proceeds to discuss and show some of the labor-intensive steps involved in making these works of art. The text equally is well written. It provides a history of the company and its designers as well as a look at the evolution of the company's style.

By far the best book on the art and science of jewelry design and marketing I have ever read. The photographs are beautifully presented, and the text is excellent. Produced with cooperation of the Bulgari family, it tells the tale how two Greek brothers founded one of the great jewelry houses of the world, and how their children and grandchildren continue the development of the creative and financial side of the business. A fascinating inside look at the the Bulgari family and their achievements in the world of jewelry design.

This book presents to anyone with an intrest in jewellery with insight into one of the great jewellery manufactures and designers. It presents the reader with insight to Bulgari's design philosophy, some of their "little secrets", and an excellent cross referencing between text and the many beautiful pictures of their jewels. One great feature of the book is the photographs of the reverse side of the jewels illustrating that the workmanship extends to those areas where few people see, but separates the true artisans' from the pretenders.

I have been interested in the science of jewelry for 40 years, and am a metalsmith as well. I have been collecting books for many years, and this is one of the best. In addition to having wonderful color photographs, space has been given to showing the back of major pieces, to show construction and craftsmanship. The book is well organized to show the progression of design by the house of Bvlgari, from beginning to current day. If you are serious about jewelry, this book will provide many hours of enjoyment, and will be an excellent reference book for style research.

Any college-level art library strong in jewelry history needs BULGARI: a lavish, oversized and powerful collection of color photos and archival pictures that trace the unique Bulgari style which was born in Rome in 1884. The book first appeared in 1996: its updated edition represents an extensive revision and reflects newly-discovered historical material and historical facts on the Bulgari firm, making it a top pick.

I was pleasently surprised when I recieved this book. When I looked over the discription of the book I thought I'd enjoy it but didn't know just how much until it came. The images are beautiful, full color and the discriptions are well done. This book gives a great overview of the design house Bulgari. I would recommind this book to anyone interested in learning about Bulgari or if you are just a lover of beautiful jewelry.

The designs, color, and black and white vintage photos in this book are remarkable and every page dazzles with style, design and rare stones.

The amount of skill and and artistry required to create pieces of jewelry of this caliber is staggering and these pieces are proof that mere mortals are capable of amazing things.

While I don't wear large pieces of jewelry and only have a few sizeable brooches that I wear on overcoats or thick sweaters to give them a bit of zing, there are pieces in this book that just scream 'Let me at 'em!' if only to hold them and see the light play in these gemstones.

What a feast for the eyes this collection is! And, you get information about the house of Bulgari and their top designers, so it's educational, not just decadence!

A confectionary indulgence with zero calories and even less guilt!

This is an encyclopedic volume, with many interesting details. Well written and profuse in gorgeous photography, it is a great addition to the library of anyone with a fascination for design and particularly gemstones.
