5.0 out of 5 stars Bulldog car security alarm with 2 wire hookup
This is a great economical car alarm! Its very easy to hookup and simple to use. Comes with 1- 4 button remote. I read another reviewer state it had killed their battery and gave false alarms so I assume they did not know that there are sensitivity settings easy selectable through the remote. When it rains really hard for example that may be enough to set it off so I...

1.0 out of 5 stars Killed my battery
Woke up to find this alarm had completely drained my battery. Apparently this alarm goes off at the slightest vibration & keeps going until it's sucks the life out of the car's battery. Pretty useless item anyways, not even loud enough to hear when indoors, so what's the point?! Thanks for the additional headache & time waste of having to call for a jump start.

1)alarm is not very loud (so forget about using it as a panic device), 2)often did not pick up signal from transmitter (had to be close to vehicle) so forget using it to locate your car, and 3)design seems dangerous - leads get clamped to car battery but there is nothing keeping the clamps from coming off, causing a short, or worse a fire - yikes!

This is a great economical car alarm! Its very easy to hookup and simple to use. Comes with 1- 4 button remote. I read another reviewer state it had killed their battery and gave false alarms so I assume they did not know that there are sensitivity settings easy selectable through the remote. When it rains really hard for example that may be enough to set it off so I go to the next sensitivity and I don't hear a peep. Whats nice about this alarm is that it senses via vibration and or electrical changes. One possible flaw however is that these signals are picked up better closer to the front and front sides of the vehicle than the rear since the unit is mounted under the hood and being that the unit is self contained. The alarm cycles so it goes off after about 10 minutes so it would have to be continuously triggered to kill a car battery. The loudness is reasonable. The transmitter has four buttons. One for set, deactivate, sensitivity and honestly I forget the other but think its to program or reprogram. The remote range is also reasonable. All in all as I said I'm very happy with this unit. Now if they can come up with a 2 wire alarm that flashes lights and unlocks or locks doors at a reasonable price then I'm on board!

2.0 out of 5 stars not very durable, April 26, 2009
This review is from: Bulldog Security Alarm with 2 Wire Hook Up (Misc.)
I bought this originally for a trip thru Mexico to Costa rica. I bought the Spanish version. It works good enough for the price, but if you are on rough roads, the mounting bracket breaks off the alarm horn and then it is piece of junk. I have had two of them, and they both broke at the same place. Also like some of the other people said, the alarm itself is not very loud, and the remote doesn't work that good. Also trying to work with the manufacture was a total joke. I gave up and bought a real alarm

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Alarm for The Money, October 10, 2007
This review is from: Bulldog Security Alarm with 2 Wire Hook Up (Misc.)
I like this alarm. I bought it for economic reasons. It works good, not as loud as more expensive alarms; I live in an apartment complex, and at night, when it is most needed, it is very loud. So far there's been a few false alarms, but who cares? It was only $30. Plus, I think someone was using a radio or something. The amazing thing, is that this alarm was very easy to install, I added it to my van in 5 minutes; hook up the red and black wires and attach it to the battery or side of the car (under the hood). If someone would open the door, or try to break in, it would go off, and probably scare away the average thief. However, it does have to work in combination with a fake alarm light (you can get them on ebay), and also another anti-theft deterrent, such as The Club. As long as you have ALL THREE working together, I would say that this inexpensive 802 Bulldog alarm is a great buy. Like I said, though, it's good for economy and just acting as a theft deterrent, nothing fancy. Bottom line: mine works and would probably frighten away a car thief (but also because I have a fake alarm light and The Club too...). I would recommend this alarm if you are strapped for money and you are parked at night where you need some extra protection for your vehicle... highly recommended for that reason. Only bad part is you probably might want an extra remote, so don't lose the one that comes with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT alarm for the price, December 4, 2011
This review is from: Bulldog Security Alarm with 2 Wire Hook Up (Misc.)
I've had two of these and they work VERY GOOD for the price. I had one on a van. You have to READ the setup and set the sensitivity to motion. YES it is configurable. Pretty good for a cheap alarm to protect your Ferrari? I have one now I am setting up on an electric (2 wheel) scooter. I have to mount a small 12v battery to power it because the scooter is 48v.

Great little alarm for a very cheap price and a little READING. It won't drain your battery if you set it up properly.
