5.0 out of 5 stars They're HERE TO STAY!, December 21, 2001

This review is from: Bulldog Edition (Audio CD)
Sheer Terror are one of those bands that everyone likes but never talks about. They emerged from the NYHC scene in the mid-80's and stood out because of their very hard sound and strong lyrical content. Their lyrics are similar to fellow New Yorkers Dead Boys in their Nihilism and plain hatred for society. Rev. Paul Bearer's vocals are spot on and always have been. This release is a collection of all of their early albums and E.P's (before 1997). It has all of their songs on it as a 2-disk set. On the first disk it has "Just Can't Hate Enough" LP, "Live At CBGB's" 7" and "Old, New, Borrowed & Blue" EP which all together clocks in at 20 songs and over 57 minutes. Disk 2 is comprised of "Thanks Fer Nuthin'" LP & "ETC" which is songs off comps and other various unreleased tracks. Disk 2 clocks in at 19 songs and just over 51 minutes. Both CD's are amazing, playing that PUNKROCK the way it should be played. The Johny Cash and Johny Thunders covers are great, and Gothic aspects creap in one classics like "Roses". Get this now, you NEED it

5.0 out of 5 stars all the good stuff, September 5, 2000

first off it has the entire album of "Just can't hate enough" which makes it an automatic winner with me. one killer song that didn't get put on the collection is "done all wrong", off the "ugly and proud" album, and the "a$$hole and proud " 7". i really like the previously unreleased songs. i wasn't too into how they did the song "everything and nothing" using the same music as the song "just can't hate enough", i dont think it sucks, just not used to hearing those lyrics with that music.i always like the covers that sheer terror does. i'm not into the cure but i can listen to "boys don't cry" by sheer terror with no problem. and the, "you can't put your arm's around a memory" cover from a song by johnny thunders is killer. those are the two covers that stick out for me. so if you dont already have any sheer terror, buy this cd set and you will have the majority of the killer songs done by the best NYHC band that ever existed.

5.0 out of 5 stars just cant hate enough, August 14, 2000
This review is from: Bulldog Edition (Audio CD)
the most complete collection of songs from the best, and most underrated band to come from the NY hardcore scene. anger+sincerity+musicianship = the perfect antidote to Creed, Korn, and all the other bands out there that people think are "heavy".

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Stuff, August 2, 2005
This review is from: Bulldog Edition (Audio CD)
This a classic and brings back a lot of memories. But for some reason Amazon chose the wrong parts of the songs to offer as samples rather than choosing the parts that everyone remembers. Wish listing this...

4.0 out of 5 stars This is the stuff legends are made of!!, June 28, 2001

This is it! What a loud mouth that Paul Bearer is, but thats what we all love about em isn't it. This is classic "real" N.Y.H.C. punk rock here, no watered down neuvo-wannabe garbage. I put the "Just can't hate enough" part of the disk in the top 10 hardcore recordings of all time. I just wish the "Ugly and Proud" version was on here instead of the "Thanks for Nuthin" recording, I know the record company screwed them on the "Ugly" version but it is ten times as powerful and gritty. The "Thanks" version is quite frankly "WEAK"! Still if you are from the mid 80's through early 90's era of hardcore/punk this is some good money spent, (hell that vinyl copy of Just can't Hate Enough is just plum wore out anyhow, ain't it?) For all you youngsters who are into the neuvo stuff (pennywise, blink 182,green day,etc...) you are well advised to check out the bar room brawling of the REAL DEAL!! Thanks Sheer Terror, you are missed. "Your a bunch of lousy (...)heads, but I love you."
