4.0 out of 5 stars OK product but slack accross buttstock at the taper
Product is fine for 12 gauge (but you'll want the shells in with brass on top, the loops aren't tight) but on my 870 synthetic it's a bit wide towards the front tapered end of the buttstock. So it's a little slack there. I'm going to sew this to taper it but I shouldn't have to. I guess to keep the seam on the bottom and still have it left or right handed you need a...

2.0 out of 5 stars Can hold nothing smaller than 12 gauge shells.
If you're buying this to hold shells for anything smaller than a 12 gauge, you'd better know how to sew. A 20 gauge shell slips through these openings like noting is even there.

I would not recommend this product for anything less than 12 gauge.

I guess to keep the seam on the bottom and still have it left or right handed you need a constant width but buttstock geometry just isn't that way in reality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shotgun shell holder, November 29, 2010

Works well, will fit pretty much any shotgun because it stretches. Had the opportunity to extensively test it while squirrel hunting, retained shells while walking through brush for 4+ hours and releases shells when needed (used on a 20 gauge single shot). I also have one on my 12 gauge home defense gun, so will hold 20 gauge and 12 gauge shells comfortably without problems, would not go much smaller than that.
