their best to date,

Easily the best of the Texas alt-country groups, these Oregon boys' songwriting and playing continues to improve by leaps and bounds, despite having spent little (if any) time writing with Nashville tunesmiths. The result is Reckless Kelly's most masterfull release to date and the best country offering of 2008. There's no Kelly Pickler/Julianne Crough karaoke singing here--this is serious business, rocked to the gills by guys who play instruments, write their own songs, say something with their music, and can rip the roof off of Greune Hall. Country music saying something? I think that last happened 22 years ago! Nice!

I own all Reckless Kelly cd's and like them all, Millican being my personal favorite. It has been a while since they put out a studio cd, so I have been eagerly waiting for this cd. I received the cd yesterday, I definitely was not disappointed. 14 songs, not a bad one in the bunch. They are a cross between country, rock, and power pop. They use fiddle and madolin in their music, which really works. Willie and Cody Braun sing great in harmony. These guys rock, do yourself a favor and give this cd a listen. You will be hooked like I am.

These gents have something to say!,

You don't often find songwriting this poignant on the rock side of the alt-country genre, let alone on an album that would make great road music. Tracks like "Ragged as the Road" and "Lonely All The Time" brilliantly merge catchy country-rock vibes with some very smart lyrics. If you're craving some political message in your music, check out "American Blood" and the ballad "God Forsaken Town", an absolutely heart-wrenching tribute to the victims of hurricane Katrina.
