A Mature Coming of Age Novel ..Must Read,
By Bullwinkle (Baltimore MD) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bulletproof Soul (Paperback)
Michelle Buckley has entered the literary world with well written novel. We are introduced to Lacy , an upcoming reporter and her trials and tribulations of being a woman and also a professional at the same time. Lacy is trying to be her own version of " I'm every Woman " by any means necessary.
I enjoyed Bulletproof Soul and encourage readers particularly book clubs to give this book a try. It will make for excellent book club discussion .

A Must READ!!!,
This review is from: Bulletproof Soul (Paperback)
Being a man, I simply enjoyed reading (((Michelle Buckley))) titled book, Bulletproof Soul. The story wasn't just another novel filled with drama but lessons of survival as demonstrated in Lacy's character, a strong, black, single, professional, woman making her way in the world in spite of her personal loss from the death of close family members to ended relationships with the men she loved. This book is a fast pace read that opens a door for the older generation to mingle with the young, as in Lacy relationship with her grandmother. Throughout the story you will find yourself laughing and questioning things you could see in yourself or someone you know. A well written book with a story that inspires!!!

Lacy Foxx is a sexy independent sistah struggling in the relationship department. After breaking off an engagement to Sebastian Lacy falls head over heels for Wynn Trust. But is Lacy more to blame for her failed relationship with Sebastian (or Se-bastard as she calls him) than she initially realized?
But that realization that she was also to blame comes a little too late and leaves Lacy torn between her past with Sebastian or a future with Wynn. Author Michelle Buckley delivers an excellent novel showing that in order to maintain a healthy relationship with anyone you must first work on your soul.

Welcome to The Lacy Foxx channel: All Lacy, all the time!
The African, and Native American journalist, Lacy Foxx of Kansas City, Missouri is a Metro Tribune Entertainment Writer. There is no secret that she tends to run before she can be hurt. Well she's the only one that doesn't know this about herself. Yet she believes that she wants what every other woman wants- the security of a loving, and committed relationship. Lacy is trying to feng shui herself into an oblivion. BUT reminders of her past relationship, old job, best friend, and deceased relatives have her always looking hard at decisions that she's made/making in her life. This may be Kansas, but is she really content with settling for fairly there? Do a lie and an omission mean the same thing? To forgive or not to forgive, that is the question? While Lacy (with the help of her grandmother BiBi) tries to add, deduct, and reason with herself about the factors of love that she's involved in, we're there as the entire episode unfolds. Friendships, love, bonding, mishaps, lies, understanding, truth, and growth. Can Lacy Foxx continue to dodge the attacks of her `Bulletproof Soul'? Tune in as Lacy Foxx takes us on a personal journey of her life story. Bulletproof Soul is a solid debut effort. Reviewed by: Crystal

A Great Read.,
This review is from: Bulletproof Soul (Paperback)
I'm enjoying this book! It's been some years since I've actually read one because, honestly if a book doesn't hold my attention from page one, I'm done with it. As a matter of fact I did purchase a book a few years ago to end my drought, but couldn't stay interested. I didn't even finish the first chapter. But from the very first paragraph it has held my attention, and made me laugh out loud and I'm still enjoying it. Lacy pulled me in right away with her sense of humor and I'm eagerly walking through her experiences with her, gasping, bucking my eyes and sighing. The characters remind you of people you know, have known, would like to know, hope you never know, or wish you didn't!

C&B Reviewer Popple - HATS OFF TO MICHELLE,
By Carol @ C&B "Caroline Rogers" (Queens New York) - See all my reviews

I won Bulletproof Soul as a prize and thoroughly enjoyed it. What started out as entertainment brought out some deep themes on death, loss, friendship, and love. I kept hoping that protag Lacey would find her true love. She did not, but more important, she learned how to become her own best friend, and for me, that was a positive ending. A highly successful reporter, Lace comes off extremely needy around men, but Michelle keeps up a suspension of disbelief with excellent characterization.
I would describe Bulletproof Soul as a coming of age novel. I give it a 5-star rating. Popple

This book was an excellent page turner. I laughed with the character Lacy and also cried with her. This book is a definate must read. Lacy dealt with comical and disheartning single woman dating issues along with everyday life experiences. This is a must read for both men and woman. Ms. Buckley has a way of writing that draws you into her book and keeps your attention from beginning to end.

Good book for first novel,
By KC Girlfriends Book Club (Kansas City, MO) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bulletproof Soul (Paperback)
I thought this book was pretty good to be the first novel by Michelle Buckley. I think that she will be around for quite sometime and we will see her writing grow stronger. I look forward to the next read.
I thought Lacy was a very strong character that eventually did what was best for herself in the end. She decided to stick to her moral beliefs and not give into Winston. He seemed to only be able to love her in his own way and not the way that she needed him to and also as honestly has he should have.

The book was very fast pace, entertaining, and covers issues in life we all at some point dealt with. The loss of love ones, love and trust, infidelity and betrayal, family and friendships. Lacy represent the strength and the weakness that would bring out the best in us.
The story is about Lacy, a reporter who agreed to do an interview with Winston, the director of a youth center who's sexy, wealthy and have it going on with secrets that will rock Lacy trust. Lacy finds herself mixed in some baby mama drama, drive- by shooting, conflict with her job, and playing match maker with her grandmother. Lacy Foxx, eventually finds the ultimate happiness in herself by wearing her bulletproof soul.

Trials of Survival,
By Bouvier (Texas, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bulletproof Soul (Paperback)
I enjoyed Bulletproof Soul, it was fresh, new, and something a black woman such as myself, PHENOMENAL, can relate to while trying to stay ahead of the game of life and love. Lacy eventually came into herself and realized that life goes on even after death and a few heartbreaks. Lacy maintain control of her destiny inspite of her own personal issues of trusting, but when she gave her all, there was no half-stepping from her help with the inner city girls and boys club to her relationship with the men in her life, her job, grandmother, and her best friend. In Bulletproof Soul you would find some laughs and some tears. You will also expect the unexpect somewhere in the pages, I did with Lacy best friend. And then there are times you would want to reach through the book and give a few off-beat characters such as Von a reality check. The book is real and right on beat with issues women face today in all aspect of our lives. So take a step outside of you and read the pages of Bulletproof Soul.
