In fact, you may already know most of what is covered in this motivational book - but sometimes we need to be reminded.
It is kind of like weight loss.
People really know what they need to do ....... they just don't do it.
Briefly my story ...
I came from humble family background.
Needed to work 40 hours per week while going to college to pay for classes.
No summer breaks ..... worked 2 jobs during the Summer.
Graduated with no student loan debt.
Moved to Florida with $100 to my name and everything I owned in the backseat of my '69 VW Beetle.
Got a job.
Moved up thru the ranks over the next 7 years but thought I had a better way to do it.
Quit that job and with some other people, we got an SBA loan and started a similar business.
In 7 years, we grew to be the largest business of our type in the State.
Was approached by an International company that offered to buy us.
Sold and was financially secure with no debt or mortgages by age 36.
In the following few decade, companies would ask me to help them improve their operations in terms of efficiency, sales, market share, profits, etc..
Had success and good reputation with that.
However by the time I was approaching age 50, it seemed like I had hit a wall.
Kind of feeling my best days were behind me and seeing my Consulting work drying up.
Started to feel kind of lost and in limbo.
Grabbed this book and it reminded me of all the things I already knew but had forgotten over the years.Read more ›
As the author of "Safety Management without the Mumbo Jumbo", I know how hard it can be to retain an author's interest in a subject without over complicating it. Mr Kennedy does both. He writes logically and simply and retains the reader's interest by using interesting anecdotes.
I especially liked the interviews with successful people (like Bob Proctor) which give an insight into their career journey, thinking and success formulas.
Robert's summary at the end of each chapter is also useful and I used that feature when picking the book up again to revise concepts, before proceeding to the new chapter.
I recommend this book to anyone who does not want a complicated read but really just needs guidance through a number of the key points which has made Mr Kennedy and others successful.
