About the Author

Mike Thaler was born in Los Angeles in 1936. After moving to New York City, he started his professional career drawing cartoons for adults in 1960. A children's book editor saw one of these cartoons and encouraged Mike to write for children. Since then, Mike has written over 140 children\u2019s books and has become known as America\u2019s \u201cRiddle King.\u201d Mike says that writing and riddles are a powerful way to stimulate a child\u2019s interest in learning and creating. He is an award-winning author and illustrator and has been called \u201cone of the most creative people in children\u2019s literature.\u201d Mike currently lives in Canby, Oregon.

Jared Lee has illustrated more than sixty books for young readers. He has received awards from the Society of Illustrators, The Martha Kinney Cooper Ohioana Library Association, The National Cartoonist Society, and others. He lives in Ohio with his wife and a menagerie of dogs, cats, ponies, ducks, and a few unknown creatures.

Known as America's Riddle King, Mike Thaler is the author of the popular Black Lagoon books and the Heaven and Mirth series. He lives in Portland, Oregon, and travels nationally, speaking in schools, libraries, and churches.

It's a good book. It's actually very short.
It's about the class and everyone is talking about the new kid that Hubie is getting in his class. They think the new kid knocked people's heads off, crashes into people on purpose, kicks people, and gives them wedgies. On Thursday, when Hubie walks around the corner, he bumps into the new kid. Hubie apologizes and the new kid is actually very nice. They make a deal that they will never bump into each other again.
You can't judge a book by its cover. You can't believe that someone is really mean unless you know them. If you don't know them. You don't know if they are mean, nice, curious, shy, or anything -- you don't know unless you know them. So you can't judge a book by its cover.
This book would probably be good for 8 or 9 yar olds that are usually in thrid or fourth grade.

This book might be scary for you. There is a new kid in the school. A boy worries that he might be a terrible bully. He might eat the teacher's pet. He might be able to be a whole football team all be himself. When they had art class he would take all the crayons. In the library he'll take all the books! Is he really a terrible bully or a good friend? Read this book to find out!

My 5-yr-old is in love with the Black Lagoon series, and he enjoyed this one, but loves the Custodian and Dentist the most from the "new" releases.
