Editorial Reviews

Review

"John Yee's greatest defence is...his charm." -- Ottawa Sun, April, 1998

"The book is an excellent resource for both parents and children." -- Barbara Hall, Mayor, City of Toronto, 1998

"Well prepared, appropriate reading for the schools." -- Tom Parish, North York Board of Education, 1998

About the Author

"Bully Busting" has always been a vital part of John's self-defence program. He offers it to schools, community centres, the police service, and different organizations like the Girl Guides and Brownies.

He continues to provide his students (youths and adults) with hints on how to keep new bullies from bothering them (on the school grounds and in the workplace) as well as how to get rid of their existing bully. The "bully busting" techniques that he employs are based on what he terms "mental self-defence".

He has even applied several of those methods, along with other tactics, in the ring (he still competes and came 2nd in sparring at the Canadian Open Kung-Fu Championship in 1995 and 1996). He never gives his students or his readers something which he has not tested himself. This third book in the "Streetproofing for Kids" series is intended for youths, parents, and educators.

5.0 out of 5 stars Written in a very informative and entertaining style., May 21, 1998

Using dialogue in nonfiction is a very interesting way of getting an important message across to kids and parents who want to know what to do when they encounter a bully problem. It encourages the reader to read the book before such an incident occurs.

5.0 out of 5 stars I recommend this book to children, teachers and parents., October 25, 1998

This review is from: The Bully Buster Book (Streetproofing for Kids Series , Vol 1) (Paperback)
The book deals with a very real and disturbing issue. As the parent of a pre-schooler who has just started JK, I found this book of great value. It is very important for both parents and children to be aware of these real issues and be prepared to deal with them if/when they occur. The book is written in an informal dialogue that is easy to understand, which makes it easy for children to reade it on their own, or alternatively for parents to read it to the younger ones.

I recommend the book to educators and parents. The reading is fast pace, and I think that kids would enjoy reading it first hand.
