I have gotten this product several times and always loved it. The hitch mount was always plastic, but the skull itself was chromed metal, heavy, solid, indestructible. In fact, I liked the skull so much that I built my own hitch mount piece from steel for it. One that I've had for years burned out an electrical connection, so I ordered a replacement... imagine my surprise that NOW THE SKULL ITSELF IS ABS PLASTIC. Same chromed appearance, but probably weighs 8 oz instead of 5 lbs. Surely going to scratch and scuff now. I don't know what product genius decided to replace a metal skull with a plastic one and leave the description and price the same... But it FOR SURE should now be $10 instead of $25!!! I recommend looking for one of the old ones in a Wal Mart or somewhere that you can inspect it in person... And I hope Amazon fixes the description, which is accurate for the old model, but now is not.

I actually purchased one of these from our local automotive supply store for a very similar price.
This item consists of a metallic chrome skull with LED lights in the eye sockets which light up brightly when the brake is pressed. It comes with two sets of hitch socket assemblies which are places together and bolted easily into the back of the skull, there is also an electrical connection, with an ample length of wire, to attach to your wiring harness of your vehicle. both hitch connection sets also have access holes for locking the hitch cover in place. A very cool change to the regular logo-style hitch covers, or the "plain jane" covers...
I have one on my Jeep Grand Cherokee and it looks great!!

Very easy to install, and has a great look. I'm not sure about the plastic hitch shaft or the skull being chrome over plastic, but I am hoping it will hold up to the weather. It is summer here, and I'm hoping it can handle being hit with a bit of snow and slop from other vehicles while driving down the road. It is a great accent piece to my skull truck.

Being the coolest minivan driver around, I bought one of these to make my 2009 Kia Sedonna minivan even more bad*ss then it already is. Unfortunately, the location of the receiver is so low to the ground (as it may be with all minvans with fold into the floor rear seats), the chin of the skull hit the ground and the skull broke off the first time I backed out of my suburban home driveway. This is not the fault of the manufacturer, but buyer beware that the chin hangs down an inch or so below your receiver and you may have ground clearence problems. At least I was totally awesome for a few hours until I backed my minivan out to the road the first time.

I bought this for my boyfriend as a fun birthday gift. He put it right on his truck and just loves it! It is the perfect little something to make the guy in your life who loves skull things a happy one.

I purchased this from a local parts vendor for a few bucks less and in two short weeks one of the eyes quit working and then a few days later, one of the red eye lenses fell out. Overall it is a nice hefty piece of cast metal with thick chrome plating. The mounting tube is plastic but it works ok. My complaint is that the eyes got all screwy on me. I get stuck with it because the vendor discontinued it and would only replace with the same item. I gave it a two bewcause it just didn't work right.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this product. It is heavy, well chromed metal skull, which looks much better in real. With leds on - it gives nice glowing effect. Comes with two types of attachment for different types of receiver hitch, so it should fit your hitch in any case, but I am not sure about wire plug. It fitted by vehicle, but payed attention that there are some sockets of different shape. In any case, it should be very easy to wire it up as you like

This product was expensive in the stores and I found it cheaper here. The husband loves it.
