Bulova

Bulova

In 1875, a young Czech immigrant named Joseph Bulova set up shop in New York City, and a legendary American watch brand was born. Bulova was trained as a jeweler, and his expertise carried over into his watchmaking career, which began around 1911 with boudoir clocks and pocket watches, and soon evolved to include what was then one of the latest and most fashionable technological innovations: the wristwatch.

Bulova introduced its first line of wristwatches in 1919. The company grew and prospered, and soon early radio and television ads were declaring, "America runs on Bulova time." In the 1950s, continuing its legacy of innovation, Bulova introduced Accutron, the first electronic watch, and the first breakthrough in timekeeping technology in over 300 years. The Accutron timing mechanism was later adapted for use by NASA computers and a Bulova timer was even placed on the moon to control transmissions of data. Bulova timepieces have kept official time aboard Air Force One and have also served as official timepieces for U.S. Olympic teams.

Today, Bulova maintains its tradition of excellence in technology and design, offering a diverse collection of beautiful precision timepieces for every occasion.

I have bought my first Bulova 96A137 that worked just fine for two weeks, then out of the blue it stopped working at all.

I scored this watch on an amazing lightning deal but I must say it is worth every penny of its retail value!

Fantastic watch. Very accurate, Beautiful craftmanship. This watch is worth every penny and more. It is one of the best watch design on the market. It is heavy, manly and classy. When compared to other high priced models, this watch beats them all by a wide margin. I recommend it very highly.

This is a very attractive watch, and with the name "Bulova" I expected a lot more than I actually got. The watch is large and has a mass to it. It is not for a smaller individual, but a larger person will enjoy the weight of it. From the time I removed it from the box the problems began. It would run a while and then stop. I believed that it just needed to be worn and have a chance to "self-wind." This was apparently not the case. After wearing it for a day or so I came to a point where I would have to shake the watch often just to get it to run even for a few seconds. Then I noticed a small bit of metal bouncing around inside the case. It was about 1/8" square, with a hole in it's middle. While this piece of metal was visible, the watch seemed to run ok, but when movement caused it to disappear to the inner workings the watch would stop. I sent the watch back. Since then I have read other reviews where the similar bit of metal appeared. This is obviously a design flaw which Bulova needs to address. Instead I bought a Citizens "Eco-Drive," so far it is a great watch.

It feels substantial and solid on your wrist but somehow also comfortable. The dial design and details are beautiful. You will find yourself looking at it more often than you would want. Much better than expected from looking at the Amazon pictures.

While I was looking at the face I noticed a small piece of a small piece of something had come loose and was moving around inside. It wasn't a gear but a small piece that wasn't attached to the watch. It has since then been lost inside and the watch still works great.
