I have this watch and I totally agree. It's a beautiful watch. It's a little heavy, but I like heavy watches. I received it as a 25 year gift from the company I work for. The only negative I have with the watch is that the hour and minute hands are hard to see because they blend in with the face of the watch. In certain lighting conditions it's very difficult to tell the time. You have to find just the right angle to see the hands on the watch.

If you want a watch primarily for it's looks, this is one to consider. I receive several positive comments about it's looks. However, if you absolutely NEED a watch for telling the time you may want to look for one with hour and minute hands that are easier to read, or you can always use your cell phone to get the time and use the watch to impress people. ;-)

So I give the watch 5 stars for quality and appearance, but 2 stars for actual functionality. Overall I would give it a 3-4. If Bulova would make the hour and minute hands darker, it would be a solid 5 star watch.

A note about ratings: One reviewer's comments on this watch are hilarious. He says, "Please do not get carried away by the fact that the hour minute hands are not visible." Then he gives it 5 stars. But 7 out of 7 people find his review helpful. However, another reviewer that gave 2 stars and says basically the same thing (except that he gave it 2 stars) only has 2 out of 6 who found his rating helpful. I find that interesting. This is the main reason I hesitate to review items on Amazon. If you don't give 5 stars, you get trolls who come in behind you and mark the review as unhelpful.

Please do not get carried away by the fact that the hour minute hands are not visible. this is an awesaome product. this was given as a gift for my first wedding anniversary from my wife, trust me, when you wear this, defninitely you will feel the pride of wearing a bulova. no need to hesitate, this is one of the best for you. there is only for draw back (may be its not for others), the watch is slightly heavy when compared to my old one.Overall a very very good watch.

This watch looks even better in person than it does in the photographs. I received this watch as graduation present and it looks amazing. It feels just right. It is exquisitely detailed and (IMO) has a rather intricate face. I get lots of unsolicited, positive comments on it, and I think it looks much more expensive than it actually is.

I couldn't be happier - it's a very solid, classy watch.

this is my 3rd Bulova, this watch is heavy but not to heavy. I like a solid feeling watch. only issue i have with this watch is that the gold plating will wear off within a month of use. Could of done a better job on the watch band or left the gold overlay off all together.

Great watch, for an even better price. The band is very solid and is heavily constructed. The case of the watch is thick, and seems to be very durable. The triangular accents on the bezel look very nice, and show off the two tone color scheme. The band is probably the best part of the watch, it does not bend backwards and doesn't rattle like other watches of this price. The hands aren't ideally painted, however people claiming it is impossible to read are lying, it is fine unless you have vision problems. Great watch, I am very satisfied with this purchase.

This watch is awesome! The white and gold dial is very detailed and bezel compliments it's very well. It's a bit heavy. It's big but not too big, not at all. It's about a 43mm case. Two tone bracelet is well done. It's very sylish yet with a classic appeal. Great watch for anyone who doesn't mind a heavy watch. If you really have weak vision problems, then the hour minute hands will bother you. But for mostly everyone else, you'll love it.

When i received the watch, the gold on the band was scratched as if used before. Amazon quickly replaced the item however i believe the the gold on the watch band scratches easily.

If you like how it looks then buy it. I can't complain much. People complain that it is too heavy but perhaps the instructions should say for ages 10 and up because I could only imagine it being too heavy for a toddler. Great watch. If anything the top of the band could be a bit wider.

Trust me the other review is useless!!! Giving this watch 2 stars because your vision is too bad to use the watch!?!? Ridiculous! This watch is beautiful! I wear it ALL the time. I get a compliment on it EVERY day, no exageration! BUY THIS WATCH!!! It's solid, beautiful and accurate. What more do you need?

Received as a Christmas present. Beautiful looking watch but way too heavy. I am a tall, big guy and it felt like it weighed 10 pounds. Too cumbersome for day to day. Returned to Amazon with no problem.
