Product Description

Size: 8-15 Pounds

Introducing the organic cotton diaper kit, a value packed box of cloth diapering essentials with everything you need to start using cloth diapers now! You don’t need to be cloth diaper savvy in order to appreciate it - but if you are, you will really love our beautiful new boxed kit. Flushable liners and our step-by-step guide to no-fuss cloth diapering make it easy for you. No rinsing, no pins, no stuffing and no big deal to wash this cloth diaper system. And you can call our toll free help line any time with questions. After 20 years of selling reusable cloth diaper systems, we are very good at helping parents succeed at and enjoy cloth diapering. And the bottom line is that organic cotton diapers are truly the greenest choice in diapering. From the growing and harvesting of the cotton itself to what actually touches baby’s skin, organic cotton is simply the best. Safer for growers, workers and baby and this beautiful planet earth. Besides the gorgeous organic cotton diapers, included in the box are some sturdy and great looking waterproof covers, flushable AND reusable liners, and our fabulous wet bag (doubles as a diaper pail). Plus, our kind friends at Dimpleskins have collaborated with us and enclosed a sample of their great Bum Bum Balm in every box. A great added value. The Baby size contains: 18 baby size organic cotton prefold diapers (4 x 8 x 4 layers thick), 2 super whisper wraps medium, 2 super brites medium, 1 roll bio-soft liners – large, 5 reusable fleece liners, 1 fabulous wet bag large (available exclusively in the Kit), user guide.

We used this kit for five months and found that it contains ALMOST everything you need to get started with cloth diapers and works well, especially while baby is in the sweet spot in the middle of the size range. My sister got this kit for her first baby, but passed it on to us virtually unused, so a caveat of this review is that our 8-15 pound kit version is 3 years old. However, it looks like since then they have only added products (balm, wet bag, fleece liners), and made the velcro tabs on the superwhisper wraps larger (a handy improvement). My sister tried the kit, but found that the diaper covers were not a good fit for her long, lean baby, so she gave up on it. We also have a long, lean baby and started using the kit when he was about 9 pounds. While the diapers/covers were very bulky on him at first, for the majority of its life cycle this kit has been great - with a few amendments I'll note below. (We also use a Nature Babycare brand disposable once per day after infant massage so as to not get oil on our cloth diapers, and so baby can have some less encumbered exercise time out of the big cloth diaper.) In the Amazon Product Description they say the baby size (15-30 lbs) comes with 18 prefolds, 4 diaper covers (the 2 whisper wraps and 2 super brites), and various accessories. I went to the Bummis' site to see what now comes in the infant size (8-15 lbs): 24 prefolds, 6 diaper covers, and various other accessories. Based on our experience, I would recommend getting a few other essentials to complement this kit. I would recommend you have at least 36 prefolds or you might likely be doing diaper laundry every day.Read more ›

I had never even seen a baby in cloth diapers before, but I wanted to start, so I ordered this kit. It has 36 unbleached prefolds, 6 diaper covers, 2 rolls of flushable liners, and an instruction book. The book is great - shows you step by step what you need to do to wash, use, and store the dirty diapers. You have to wash the prefold diapers 3 times before using - they get a lot smaller and softer as they go through the wash and dry cycles. I've been so happy with their absorbancy, ease of use, and cost. Even my husband was pleasantly surprised by how easy the switch was (this is our 3rd child and the first 2 were all disposables). When you think of a pack of diapers costing $20, this kit is pretty cheap. We may "upgrade" to the all-in-one diapers as our newborn gets larger and outgrows the covers(she's only 8 weeks old and 11 lbs.), but for the next couple of months, this is all we need. I would recommend them for anyone thinking of moving to cloth to "go green" and save some money.

This is a great kit for those wanting to cloth diaper. I had bought this having no clue what I was looking for and was very pleased. I have used these from the beginning and are well loved. I did find that 36 prefolds is MORE than enough. I wash every 2-3 days and never ran out of prefolds or covers for my baby. I did however, purchase some thirsties covers, so I could have a variety of colors! The prefolds are also unbleached indian prefolds and super soft and fluffy!!

Now that my LO is about to outgrow these, I have been using the prefolds inside the BG and fuzzi bunz diapers as inserts, especially overnight with no added bulkiness. These prefolds have gotten plenty of use and more than paid for themselves!

Also do practice a variety of folds. The fold in the Bummis directions is designed more for a girl with the added absorbancy in the middle. For a boy you want to fold up the front and do an angel wing fold to have more absorbancy in the front. I have noticed when I do the fold in the directions teh diapers are soaked very quickly and when I do teh angel fold they aren't soaked through...so do practice.

We recently purchased this system to use on our 4th child. All of the other children were in disposables. I wish that I had found this system eariler. Not only is it saving us money, but it is so easy to use and clean. We decided to wait until our baby was 8 weeks old and we have been using the system for a full week. After just one day I was able to get my speed of diaper changing to almost the same time as with disposables. I have to say we are using less wipes b/c the wicking of the liners captures most of what would be on the baby's bottom and the red diaper rash that all of my children have always had and we just applied diaper cream at every change, isn't there now! So we are using much less diaper cream. I can see how this product would be WAY too bulky to use on a new born, but our baby is now 11 lbs and it works great. This is a great product and it only takes time in the eveing to remember to wash the diapers before bedtime so that you have them for the next day. Since our baby is only 8 weeks, smell is not an issue yet. we'll have to figure that out later. I use the next generation laundry soap that the handbook suggests, found at my local Target store. Also, yes use the amount that they tell you to use in the handbook. I am a clean freak that enjoys everything to smell "clean", but when you wash these diapers correctly, cold short wash - no detergent, then hot regular wash. Then your diapers will come out clean and very absorbant. However if you have an HE washer like I do, then throw in a bath towel or two to "trick" the machine into adding more water, the more water the better in washing these diapers. The only thing that I'll suggest is that you'll need about 2 more diaper covers to go with this system. Enjoy.
