5.0 out of 5 stars Bump This!! June 11, 2012

I completed reading this book in 2 days, I could not stop flipping the pages on my Kindle! It was a well written story from beginning to end. In my opinion, African American LGBT literature has become very cliché and predictable, "Bump This" was not predictable and it kept me wanting to know what was going to happen next. As much as the characters were believable and relatable, there were times when the reader could say "oh, I would never do that" or "I would never be in that situation..." Not only did you want to cheer the main character Keith on, but also there were times when he made you want to slap him and shake some sense into him. This book deals with issues of drug abuse, molestation, infidelity, and overcoming the emotional scars that those things can place on an individual. The reader gets to see relationships flourish that had been damaged, as well as learning a lesson of not judging a book by it's cover. I highly recommend that you "Bump This"!

4.0 out of 5 stars Emotional and drama filled October 3, 2014

Honestly, I think the only characters in the book that I actually liked were Derrick and Lemar. Keith was way too flaky for my taste, even though I really wanted him to get his s--- together. Though they both made mistakes in the beginning of their relationship, Derrick was WAY too patient and WAY too nice and in the end Keith did not deserve him, IMO. Not because of his issues due to his past, but with this so-called "love triangle" madness. Keith didn't love Jessie, and vice-versa. After Jessie showed his true colors, I really just wanted him to get shot. He was an evil, manipulative little snot. I wish Lemar had been able to get some counseling to deal with his grief, and maybe he should have moved in with his aunt. He was already taking care of her kids and he needed to be away from his mother, like yesterday. And Keith's mother and grandmother? OMG, I couldn't stand either one of them.

This is kind of a crazy story, like some kind of emotional roller coaster with bumps, twists, and turns. But in the end I think it is a story worth reading. I finished it within 24 hours.

Fantastic book and a quick read. Can be street "hard" with the language but it is indicative of the setting the author chose. I really enjoyed it
