5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome tribute
What an awesome, heartfelt tribute to the troops. You can tell from the song how personally involved Chely is, from her family in the military, to the work she does overseas to support the troops.
Thanks for sharing an awesome, personal song, Chely.
I recommend anyone who has not heard it, check it out. :)

1.0 out of 5 stars Really?????
Y'all are serious??? There has got to be better music available at the Wall Mart! Life is way too short. Chely, SHAME ON YOU!!! But then you didn't even stand a chance with parents who couldn't even spell Shelly! (Is there any rating lower than one star?) OUR TROOPS DESERVE BETTER THAN THIS.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, September 23, 2005

I first heard this song by Chely herself, as she performed her creations on an army base. We should respect those that fight for our freedom, for our way of life and for our lives. God bless them and God bless us all...

5.0 out of 5 stars Had to have it!, August 31, 2006
This review is from: The Bumper OF My S.U.V. (Audio CD)
My son graduated from USMC Boot Camp two weeks ago and this song was on the big screen just prior to the Marines entering the building. Emotion was running high as most had not seen their loved ones for many months. The Marines, too, have wanted to find this song, and have it for their own. We went right out and bought it. Thanks, Chely, from a wife and mom of a United States Marine(I am married to one, as well!).

I never buy singles, nor am I a country music fan, but this warranted a purchase. I actually caught the video one day while I was channel surfing and I'm sure glad I did. Chely Wright has a sweet voice and this song is wonderful. The lyrics say it all. The recorded letter from Chely Wright is truly an added but necessary bonus.

4.0 out of 5 stars Controversy where no controversy should be, December 21, 2006
This review is from: The Bumper OF My S.U.V. (Audio CD)
I'm a little amused (or is that "bemused") at the tempest aroused by this song. It's pretty middle-of-the-road both politically and artistically. Apparently the political left and the political right hear different versions of the words of this song and respond accordingly. Very interesting how polarized our society has become and how a simple little song can bring out the venom in people.

Basically, it's not one of her best songs but it is a good one, with words expressing support for those who put their lives at risk to preserve the freedoms we usually take for granted. You don't have to be in favor of war to respect the men and women in the armed service. That is, of course, what the lyrics are saying. I also respect Ms Wright since she walks the talk. She was among the first entertainers who flew into Iraq to offer support and to raise the morale of those stationed there. That took a lot of courage on her part and I give all the credit due her.

This song is awesome. It definitely shows the pride and appreciation we have for those in military service, be they spouses, family or friends. If you listen to the words of the song it makes you think about all the freedoms we as a nation take for granted on a daily basis.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended, December 28, 2004
This review is from: The Bumper OF My S.U.V. (Audio CD)
I highly recommend any and everyone to purchase this album. I have had the privledge to be a military wife my self (my husband is Navy) and we get alot of negative feedback from the community for the job that the military does. I have also had the privledge to meet Chely Wrights brother (the song is about him) He is a Marine stationed here and works alongside with my husband and is a great guy to know. I cant understand why anyone would want to criticize men and women who risk there lives everday for there country, yet there too chicken to do it themselves. I know exactally what Chely is talking about in this song. My husband isnt a baby killer nor likes being called one either. Afterall why does he have children of his own. Its about time someone stands up for out military men and women with such a wonderful song. I too have a sticker on my S.U.V and I sport it with pride.

5.0 out of 5 stars An American Classic, December 23, 2004

This is a wonderful song, destined to be an American Classic -- in spite of a campaign to smear this patriot who has personally prerformed for the troops in Iraq -- and whose own brother served in Iraq. I guess Liberals just can't stomach the notion of an entertainer standing up for the values that made our country great. I listened to this track about a dozen times straight when I opened it. And chances are, you will have at least a tear in your eye when you listen to the song.

This review is from: The Bumper OF My S.U.V. (Audio CD)
I am not a country music listener, but I heard this on television and just fell in love with it. Regardless of what one nasty person on here has to say..this is a GREAT song. Those of us who have loved ones in the military can definately appreciate the heartfelt feeling behind this song.
Thank you Chely!

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank You, January 27, 2005
This review is from: The Bumper OF My S.U.V. (Audio CD)
I just wanted to write saying that this song means a lot to the men and women of the armed forces. I am currently a SSGT. in the United States Marine Corp and cried the first time I have heard this. I have lost friends in Iraq and will probably lose more. This songs means so much that someone would sit down and write a classic song. We really appreciate it and give Chely Wright the best of regards and a big OOH' RAHH from the USMC!!
