About the Author
Author Nancy Walter has loved photography as long as she can remember. As a child she would sit for hours and pour through her mother's handcrafted photo albums. To her delight when she was in sixth grade, Nancy received her first camera! With her own camera, Nancy started her own tradition of keeping the special moments in her life on film. Add to her love of photography, a passion for animals and you can see where the adventures of Bumpsie started. Bumpsie however was not her first pet. Her love of animals started with a duck named Elmer and guinea pigs that her dad named GP (for Guinea Pig, or course) and OK. Growing up, Nancy had hampsters, birds, cats, dogs, fish, and turtles to keep her company. Bumpsie didn't arrive until Nancy was married with children! Her husband Don knowing Nancy's love of animals brought Bumpsie home in a box. Most people would think tortoises don't have personalities, but not Nancy. One look at Bumpsie and she knew there was a story. The special snuggly stories at bedtime with her children, became the perfect seed for the birth of the Bumpsie books. It was pure inspiration that let her imagine her child's lives through the eyes of Bumpsie. Luckily Nancy lives on the beautiful Central Coast of California where everyday she can practice her love of photography. She and her menagerie of well-loved animals live happily with her husband, and their two children. Of course, don't forget Bumpsie who spends sunny days in Nancy's wonderful garden, grazing on impatients.
