Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

The youngest bunny resists his bed in this latest installment, Bunbun at Bedtime by Sharon Pierce McCullough. As his siblings wind down, Bunbun marches about the house with a pair of cymbals. A scary noise finally drives him under the covers.

From School Library Journal

reS-The bunny introduced in Bunbun, the Middle One (Barefoot, 2001) doesn't want to go to bed. So, while his brother and sister are cleaning up toys, brushing teeth, taking baths, etc., he and his pet bird, Paco, continue playing. When a sudden noise scares him, he hastens through all the preparatory bedtime tasks he was supposed to have done earlier. After he and Paco jump into bed, Bunbun is kissed and patted by his patient siblings. The clear, simple, colored-pencil drawings are done predominantly in orange, teal, gold, and purple. Each of the siblings has bright clothing with a nose to match; Bunbun is always dressed in red and easy to identify. The text looks hand lettered by a child and could serve as an easy-reader. Though the lively colors might attract toddlers, and the young procrastinator's acceptance by his family may be reassuring, there's not enough here to sustain interest for a second reading.

More About the Author

Born in Granite City, Illinois, I was raised in the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania area. I have always loved children's books and art. In 1986 my first book, a how-to woodworking book was published, "Making Whirligigs & Weathervanes." At the time I was making folk art. Several other books followed, which were published by Sterling with my name then being just Sharon Pierce. During this same period I was raising 5 wonderful children.

At about the same time as my publishing career took off, I started organizing and promoting Fine Craft shows in the state of Virginia. I was living in Virginia Beach at that time, raising my 5 children. During that same period, I then authored and illustrated my Children's Book series about Bunbun. Having remarried, I then started going by Sharon Pierce McCullough.

In 2008, I co-founded the children's website ZiggityZoom.com. All art, stories and characters on ZiggityZoom are created by me. http://www.ZiggityZoom.com

In January 2011, I co-authored a parenting book with my daughter, Kristin Fitch, titled "Parenting Without a Paddle: Navigating the Waters of Parenthood". I am currently working on a fun Party Sandwich book.

This is my 20 month old daughter's favorite book. She will not go to bed at night unless we read it several times first. Great illustrations and cute characters. Definitely a hit with small readers.

My son and I borrowed this title from the library and he instantly became attached to Bunbun. I was so happy to find this book on Amazon. It was listed in Used condition but is in LIKE NEW condition in my opinion. Still his first choice for a bedtime story!
