Book Description

May 5, 2009
A hot, sassy, Southern romance about girlfriends, gossip, the game of love- and the game of Bunco.

Woman cannot live by Bunco alone

. Meet the Bunco Babes of Whispering Bay. Every Thursday night they roll dice, drink frozen margaritas, and catch up on all the gossip in their small north Florida town. Kitty Burke is the only Bunco Babe who is still single-which is okay-but she's thirty-five and may need to face the fact that her image of Mr. Right is all wrong.

Take Steve. Very sexy-but on paper, with three failed marriages and a shady career, maybe not great husband material. And yes, his ring tone is "Freebird." Fellow Babes Shea and Pilar definitely vote thumbs down. But maybe there's more to Steve than meets the eye. Is it time for Kitty to roll the dice and hope that she can be as lucky in love as she is in Bunco?

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

A north Florida realtor with an abysmal romantic history continues her quest for a suitable man in Geraci's formulaic debut. Kitty Burke is the only single gal in her circle of friends who get together every week to gossip, play dice and drink. But then she meets Steve, a plumber and multiple divorcé who seems like a horrible Mr. Right, but an excellent Mr. Right Now. As Kitty's personal life heats up, her professional life does, too: she is offered a chance to broker a new condo development, something that will be very unpopular in her town, but very good for her pocketbook. Things, however, are not as they seem, in love or business. While genre fans will feel at home with Kitty, who is attractive, somewhat successful and, like her pals, full of quirks, her story is woefully unoriginal. This disposable diversion's good for a few laughs, but not much more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshingly original and funny! October 11, 2010
By Deborah
Format:Paperback
I was thrilled to discover this author recently. I absolutely loved her debut novel about a group of bunco-playing girlfriends in a small beach town in NW Florida. The writing is lively and interesting, the characters are fresh and multi-dimensional, and the plot keeps you guessing until the end. This is a fun and romantic read that will both make you laugh out loud and bring tears to your eyes at times. Unlike some books in the genre, this book is ultimately satisfying because of the author's attention to detail that keeps it true to life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes me want to learn Bunco! November 30, 2009
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Maria Geraci's debut is a delightful romantic romp about friendship, relationships, and a blazing dice game that keeps the laughs and drinks coming. I loved the parallel between the crush on the hero and the heroine's desire to have a Crash Davis in her life. Very well done. Geraci's wit, charm, and turn of phrase is a breeze to read. Definitely pick up the next book in the series!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Gift September 22, 2009
Format:Paperback
I totally loved this book! I have bought two more copies to give to my good friends. It is a fun, page turning, laugh inducing book. It also makes you feel a bit mushy about your long term love. (ie husband) I can hardly wait to get my hands on her next book. Try it You'll love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't know what Bunco is? Don't need to! September 4, 2009
Format:Paperback
Roll the dice with the Bunco Babes of Whispering Bay. The book opens with the main character giving up her childhood crush on Crash Davis, but very quickly remembering why she's loved him for so long when Steve the Plumber walks into her house. He's got charm, wit, and a touch of bad boy that makes her weak in the knees.

This book is shelved in General Fiction, but it is contemporary romance at its finest. It's laugh out loud funny. Kitty is one of the most realistic fictional characters I've ever read and you immediately sympathize with her. That sympathy grows as the story develops.

Geraci does a fantastic job in her debut novel and I for one can't wait for the follow up, BUNCO BABES GONE WILD!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Read June 30, 2009
Format:Paperback
I liked this book a lot, fits into it's "genre" well and is a solid solid FUN representative of it. I couldn't ask for more, and will definitely read more by this author. And I confess, while reading it, Bull Durham was broadcasted on cable and I had to sit and watch it and refamiliarize myself with it so I could keep up with the book. Both were delightful!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, Big-Hearted Story June 26, 2009
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I had a fabulous time reading this novel! I loved getting into the lives of the protagonists, and I especially enjoyed the delightfully offbeat community the author created and the enduring friendships of the main characters. This is a fun, feel-good book about a truly likable young woman who finally comes to understand her passions and who learns to follow them.

5.0 out of 5 stars just delightful June 7, 2009
Format:Paperback
I picked up the book on Saturday and didn't put it down until I'd finished in the wee hours of Sunday morning. What a treat! Reading the novel, you feel as if you're among friends -- almost as if you'd joined the Bunco Babes for one of their Thursday night fiestas (complete with signature drinks and tasty gossip). The characters are adorable and real, the romance (and the sex) is hot, and the story moves at just the right pace to keep you guessing and keep you turning the page.

Loved it and will definitely be reading the sequel. I met the author at a book signing in Athens, GA and was not surprised to find that she was just as much fun as I imagined Kitty, Pilar, and Shea to be.

Bunco Players--are you looking forward to this book?
Bunco sounds like a total blast. I have friends who play, but they all live in the South. Ohio's not a big hotbed of bunco activity! But it sounds like so much fun, maybe I should start a group...
