Bundle of Trouble and a side of laughs,

Bundle of Trouble (A Maternal Instincts Mystery)
Bundle of Trouble is one of the best books I've read in a long while! A unique turn is that the protagonist is a brand new Mom and truly and really Mommy minded. I couldn't put down this book until grudgingly, my family said they had to eat! Bundle of Trouble is a tale of murder, intrigue, suspense and baby bottles. This funny new mom book features mommy detective Kate Connelly, a new mom with a plan to spend her maternity leave bonding with her precious new baby. Things take an unexpected turn when the Connelly's receive a phone call saying a body was found in the San Francisco Bay and the police think it may be Kate's brother in-law. Kate finds herself smack dab in the middle of a murder investigation with her new baby on her hip. With binkies, bottles and a diaper bag of sleuthing supplies, Kate finds herself in questionable situations and meeting sketchy characters with dark secrets. Any situation she finds herself in paints a new piece of the puzzle in this very funny who-done-it. Kate Connelly, new Mom, sleuth, gal about town with diaper bag is an excellent detective and I can't wait till she starts her next case! Bundle of Trouble (A Maternal Instincts Mystery)

My wife told me that I had to read this book. I was not very excited about it because, well, I'm a guy and it seemed very geared to moms. But she has a good sense of what is good and what is great. She would not stop talking about how great it was, so I gave it a try.
AMAZING! It totally blow me away. This writer has really got that special touch. With two more books in the series coming out, my wife and I are both super excited. Well worth it. Buy it, read it and I dare you to tell me different. Bravo Diana Orgain!

Loved It!,
This review is from: Bundle of Trouble (A Maternal Instincts Mystery) (Mass Market Paperback)
Kate is pregnant and just starting labor. Before she gets to the hospital, she gets a phone call regarding her mysterious brother in law, George. She becomes obsessed with finding out what George has to do with a recent murder. Even after the baby is born, instead of going to her old job, Kate becomes a private investigator ... just not officially. The mystery runs deeper than Kate realizes, and people keep dying.
I couldn't wait to read this one; it just seemed like such fun. I had to laugh at the "To Do Lists" that Kate would come up with, which reminds me of myself. The characters were intriguing, and I couldn't figure out "who done it" until the story got around to unfolding the mystery. I can't wait for the sequel to come out in March 2010.

New mother Kate Connolly has just given birth to her first child when she inadvertently finds herself embroiled in the mystery of her brother-in-law's disappearance. When the private investigator working the case winds up in the hospital, Kate finds herself solving not only the mystery of her brother-in-law, but possibly the mystery of how to avoid returning to her 9-5 office job at the end of her maternity leave.
Diana Orgain does a crack job of creating a plausible whodunit with a delightful protagonist. No deep, dark undercurrents in this new series and we're fairly certain that's just the way Ms. Orgain intended it. Upbeat and light-hearted (even, some might say, a bit saccharine at times), Kate Connolly's new mommy status brings back fond memories of those first hectic weeks with an infant. Mother's everywhere who like a cozy mystery now and again will most certainly enjoy this fun, quick read. Ms. Orgain delivers! (Bad, bad pun. Get over it.)

Kate Connolly has just given birth and feels she has found the perfect stay-at-home job, that of a private investigator. The inspiration hit when she got a call from the police telling her that her brother-in-law had been murdered. She sets out to investigate. If you are looking for a fun mystery this is it! If you've ever had a baby, you'll relate to all of the newborn issues that Kate comes across. One of the funniest parts of the book are Kate's To-Do lists that she keeps to combat newborn memory issues! A definite plus to the mystery genre.

Soul-sister!,

This review is from: Bundle of Trouble (A Maternal Instincts Mystery) (Mass Market Paperback)
Has it really been almost 2 and a half years since I had a newborn? Those foggy groggy days of too little sleep seem like yesterday! So I could certainly relate to Kate's new-mommy issues in Bundle of Trouble (A Maternal Instincts Mystery).
The Storyline New mom Kate is planning to enjoy her maternity leave and isn't too excited about returning to her office job. But her plans take an unexpected turn when she gets a phone call about a body pulled from San Francisco Bay that might be her brother-in-law. As she works to connect the dots in this ever-twisting case, she uncovers unknown talents that just might lead to the perfect work-from-home job - as a private investigator. My Review If you're looking for a clean, fun mystery, this is a book for you! The underlying new-mom issues really make this a humorous and entertaining story. I can so identify the pants that don't button, the torn emotions when separated from my baby, and the To Do lists! Yep - Kate is definitely a soul-sister of mine with her lists - the ones that make you feel organized and in control even though nothing seems to get crossed off. And are oh so essential to the new-mommy foggy state of mind, especially when trying to solve a murder case! The book is an easy-to-read page-turner, and there is a well-rounded mystery plot. Like all great mysteries, I didn't guess the villain until the end, but when I did, it was an "of course!" moment.

Bundle of Trouble is a Bundle of Fun,

This review is from: Bundle of Trouble (A Maternal Instincts Mystery) (Mass Market Paperback)
I recently finished Bundle of Trouble and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I could immediately identify with Kate. Her thoughts, fears, frustrations, and hopes were all things I had experienced as a new mother. Like Kate, the thought of going back to work after my maternity leave haunted me. I was so in love with my new little one that I could not imagine being away from her for 8 hours a day. I found it inspirational that Kate positively uses her feelings of dread as motivation. This motivation, of being able to spend more time with her new little one, enables her to muster up the courage to begin a new career. How brave!
In addition to wanting to befriend Kate, I also enjoyed the suspense of this book. It made me wish that I could stay awake a little bit longer, so that I could read more. I will eagerly await the release of the next book in the Maternal Instincts Mystery Series. As much as I enjoyed this book, I know a first time mommy would really appreciate it. If you know someone who is expecting you have to purchase it for her. Bundle of Trouble (A Maternal Instincts Mystery)would be an adorable shower gift!

A light hearted look at motherhood and mayhem,

Since the book is set in San Francisco rather than a quaint English village, I hesitate to classify it as a cosy, but it definitely has the cosy elements: amateur sleuth, light humor, and low on the violence meter. The author did a good job of rationalizing why an amateur would get involved in trying to solve a crime - often a weakness in this genre. All in all, well written and a fun read.
