About the Author

Linda Fairley enrolled as a trainee nurse with Manchester Royal Infirmary at the age of 18. She went on to train as a midwife at St Mary's Infirmary, and later Tameside Hospital in Greater Manchester. She remained there for the next 40 years. Linda lives in Greater Manchester and has two children, Peter and Fiona. In 2010 she was nominated for the Cheshire Woman of the Year Award, held in aid of the NSPCC. She still works two days a week as a community midwife, continuing to serve the women of Tameside. Linda's first book, The Midwife's Here!, was a Sunday Times bestseller.

The writer did such a good job of painting a picture of the story...It was like a film was running in my minds eye!

Loved the first book by Linda Fairley and loved this one as well. Her memories of being a midwife are clearly described and the many experiences she had are wonderfully outlined, and there are many funny moments. I was glad to be able to read how it all turned out after reading the first book.

I liked Linda Fairley's second book even more than her first. She has certainly had an interesting life! I was enthralled by each of the birth stories and the other details about Linda's life and her interactions with others were also very interesting. As Linda tells her story the changes in healthcare and attitudes towards childbirth over the years are revealed as well. The photographs included at the end of the book were a nice addition!

I am so happy that I discovered this book while looking for books about midwives. My daughter-in-law and her husband were planning a home birth and reading about how it could go really helped set my mind at ease. The author has a wonderful way of being able to get the reader right into the story. I would recommend this book to anybody!

A great story written by Linda. It helps to read her first book because there are a few references from it but otherwise,if you enjoy reading about babies being born in the 1970s-1990s in Manchester England then this book fits the bill. Great stories beautifully written.

Love the stories that this long-serving midwife has to tell... I'm looking forward to her 3rd book, if she writes one :)

Wonderful book. The second book following "The Midwife is Here!". Most sequels don't measure up to the original story. Linda Fairley's writing on the continuation of her journey is terrific and just as enchanting as her first book. Far from mushy, Ms. Fairley's writing is filled with warmth, humor, and the inevitable changes and losses in life as we grow into our later years. I found myself retelling some of her midwife stories in conversation with friends, resulting in laughs and other shared stories. If you want to curl up with a good "feel good" book at the end of the day, I highly recommend Linda Fairley's books!

I could identify with so many of Linda's experiences. She made her life so real to me. I too, am a Linda. My teaching career was an extremely important part of my life, but being a working mom and now a grandma have made my life complete.
I wish there was another book in this series. I feel like I'm moving away from a great friend as I've now finished Linda's second book.
