I really like this cookbook. Many of the recipes are based on a cake mix, which you add additional items to. There are almost-no pictures in the book, but I am glad to have a book specifically of bundt cake recipes.

I purchased this book because I have a lot of bundt pans. I was disappointed to see almost half the recipes involved a box cake. I buy cook books to make things home made not via boxed cake mixes. It basicially told you to buy a box of cake mix and add this and that to it. Who can't do that themselves? Not a good cookbook at all. If you want lessons on how to make boxed cakes than you'll like this box. I make all my cakes homemade so this book was useless to me.

Great recipes, but a lot of them refer to all kind of prepared mixes: yellow cake mix, chocolate cake mix, etc. There are also recipes "from scratch", which are not difficult to make.

I love this book for bundt recipes. There are 85 recipes for cakes, 18 glazes and sauces for those cakes, and 33 bread recipes.
And unlike what an earlier reviewer said, only 31 of the 85 cake recipes include box cake mixes--not even close to the "more than 50%" that the reviewer claimed.
I'm just a regular person who likes to cook; I'm not a foodie or a chef...so I appreciate having some of the recipes be quick and easy, while others have an extensive amount of ingredients for the times one feels like baking from scratch.

A sample of cakes: Chocolate Hazelnut Cake, Strawberry White Chocolate Cake, Apple Streusel Cake, Sour Cream Coffee Cake, Old Dominion Pound Cake, and Planters Punch Cake. (That last one has pineapple juice, orange juice, grenadine, and rum in it!)

Examples of Sauces & Glazes: Vanilla Glaze, Spice Glaze, Bourbon Syrup, Coffee Glaze, Rich Lemon Sause, Buttery Blueberry Sause.

Breads: Basil Swirl Bread,Irish Soda Bread, Herb Focaccia, Wild Rice Bread, Carrot Raisin Bread, and more.

If you enjoy Bundt recipes, this book is a great one for regular folks who love cooking and like yummy recipes.

Just received this today. I had purchased as a gift for my stepmother who loves to cook and bake but sometimes loves to cheat....8-) Baking is difficult because you have to be accurate with your measurements. This is a great book for the beginner and busy person who just can't always make something completely by scratch......A total of 87 cake and dessets recipe. 28 of these recipes use package cake mix .....The book also has a bread section. Only two of the recipes call for frozen bread dough. There is an area for savory dishes. Some of the recipes like the shepard pie calls for instant potatoes but you can easily alter the recipe to make fresh. The cook book has 3 chapters
Chapter 1
cakes & Dessert
total of 87 recipes with 28 using box mix.
Chapter 2
Breads
2 recipes calling for frozen dough
chapter 3
savory recipes
like shepard pie, Orzo Salmon ring, mexican chicken bake, sausage potato bake, calzone etc. some of the recipes call for frozen bread dough in both chapter 2 and 3...........at the end of each chapter there is a section for notes. In back...high altitude conversion chart, measuremnts, equivalents and a conversion chart.

Overall it is great book for the busy and beginner. If you like to cook all the time by scratch there are some recipes for you. although, it may not be appealing to this person.

More than half of the recipes in this book start with "1 package cake mix", or frozen bread dough, or other prepared food. Not for serious bakers, but if you're interested in quick, simple "semi-homemade" cakes and breads, this may suit your needs.

The lavendar pound cake was delicious, though!

First, whoever ranted about this book having a few recipes (half, though? Not at all) that began with pre-packaged cake mixes has a) never tried them out (they're fantastic) and b) never had that late in the evening realization that you have to bring some baked treat to a work or school function the next day. Maybe this diminishes my Foodie Credentials but sometimes, ya know, prepackaged cake mixes are awesome.

Second, this book is amazing. I bought it many years ago when it first came out and I've used it again and again and it has never disappointed. My coworkers and friends are thrilled when they see me come in with a bundt cake and this book is my secret weapon.

The recipes are easy to follow, well laid out and above all, not boring. There's something for everyone--from a Rocky Road cake to a lemony blueberry spring cake to the one in my oven right now, the Granola cake. When I got this book I was just learning how to bake and it is always such a confidence booster to make a rave-worthy cake on the first shot. Best of all, though there are glaze recipes, each cake has enough flavor and interest to stand alone and be delicious without.

This is a wonderful cookbook and the recipes that start with the cake mixes (much like the Cake Doctor book) are fullproof! One cake entitled "Coming Out Cake" mixes 7 different colors for a rainbow. My husband suggested I use that one to make the "King Cake" for Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras celebration at work....what a hit. I made two and they were gone!!! One Sunday I made 9 different recipes from this book making everything from mini bundts to normal bundt cakes and they all turned out wonderfully. This is a must for anyone who needs a nudge into baking or for the experienced baker who wants to try something new and fun. The spiral bound hardcover form makes it easy to keep track of your place while putting the recipe together.
