My son uses this clarinet for school band. It is a good beginner/intermediate instrument, and has served him well for over a year. For the price, it is worth it.

I must say I was very impressed by the speed in which the order was processed.
Moreover, I am certain the seller had no idea the mistake she made, and her intent, no doubt, was of the highest caliber.
In my naiveté however, I believed a used instrument would be a good idea for a single mom on a limited budget.
Had I waited a week, I would have known the information presented by the local music store regarding putting an old instrument into use - don't even try it.
My background is in guitars. Now, a guitar, when used, has this quality of tone, which, in a decent instrument, is improved with age.
A band instrument however, has a myriad of parts which go bad over time and need to be replaced. The cost for replacement of the parts for an old instrument most often exceeds the value of the instrument in question.
This particular clarinet was evaluated by the local music shop as just such a case. I split the cost of the instrument in question with my 11 year old, he gave up his birthday money to buy it. He was so excited when it arrived and in tears when it was declared not worth fixing. I refunded his half of the money. My investment was minimal, and I consider the money I spent on an instrument not worth the cost of repair to be a lesson well learned.
So, my recommendation? Buy a new instrument. Buy a good quality instrument. Do your research before you buy, and enlist the help of others more knowledgeable than you. If you have an old instrument in the attic you're thinking of selling online? Send it to the recyclers.
