Book Description

October 2004
Bungee Down Under continues the saga of a brave little dog and her beloved sailboat, Gypsy Rover. Together they sail to the enchanted island of Mopelia, where Bungee dives for lobsters with a young man named Hiti. Guided by the dolphins, Bungee sails onward to Australia. In Sydney, she goes to the opera and meets a family on a luxury yacht named Witch of the Wave, who do not want anything to do with Bungee since she isn't their kind. Don't worry! It all turns out for the best.

Strikingly illustrated in fanciful watercolors, Bungee Down Under is a children's book for the ages that adults will want in their libraries. For children 4-8 years of age.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Like Sally's scruffy protagonist, readers will get a taste of many things ... woven quickly and quietly into the sailing yarn." -- Portsmouth Herald, January 22, 2005

Ford keeps the story simple but provides loads of extra information about sailing, geography, and the cultures Bungee encounters. -- Rebecca Rule, Nashua NH Telegraph, Nov. 13, 2005

From the Publisher

The first volume in this series, Bungee's Voyage, received Sail America's John Southam Award for "excellence in sailing communication." For children 4-8 years of age.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fiction Woven With Nonfiction, March 6, 2005
By
Diane (western New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bungee Down Under (Hardcover)
Bungee Down Under continues the journey of life where Bungee's Voyage left off! Author Sally Ford again presents a story of courage to risk adversity with an eye toward future hope and fulfillment of dreams. Along the way, we are introduced to terminology of sailing, geographically-accurate information, notable historical facts and cultural treasures begging for further exploration. I think Bungee Down Under provides a natural opportunity to bridge the gap between fiction and nonfiction literature. Go Bungee!
