This 36 LED Solar Rechargeable Security Light has a Motion-sensitive adjustable sensor. The bright LED's are powered by rechargeable Ni-Cad batteries. The sensitivity range reaches out to about 15 feet. Light output is approximately equal to a 10 watt incandescent lamp. Weather proof design.

A good light, and a great value. Very bright, and you don't have to hardwire it.

The good:
- 36 LEDs is a lot of light.
- very long cord
- cheap. Lowes wants at leas $100 for something like this
- easy to set up

The bad:

- the light hangs on two screws. I think a security light that can be easily stolen is pretty dumb. To steal it all you would have to do is lift it off it's hanger.
- it has an on/off swich on the side. Same reason, why do I want a security light someone can switch off?
- you cannot mount the solar panel on a vertical surface and turn it horizontally. So if you mount it on the side of a building at the top, for some periods of the day during some periods of the year, it has to be in it's own shadow.

I loved this light when I bought it. For a few months it functioned flawlessly and I was telling friends and neighbors to get one. When the temperature outside began to fall about October 2010 the light failed to operate at about 45f. I thought the battery wasn't charging properly because of diminishing sunlight and charged the batteries with an accurate and sophisticated charger I use for electric remote control airplanes and helicopters. No help. When the temperature is around 40f it simply fails. This Spring when the weather and sunlight were more favorable I had hopes it would recover. Nope. I even made a new battery pack for it and it wouldn't keep it charged. The failure is from the solar panel or the circuitry controlling the battery charge. It drove one or more cells to reverse polarity.
Such a nice light to have these problems. Bunker Hill should do a little research and have a real winner here, but as is, DO NOT BUY IT.

I bought 2 units to provide safety lights in a dark alley behind my garage... more to keep from stumbling over something in the dark than anything else. They worked great for about a year then both units failed during the summer. A quick check with a volt meter showed the solar panels were no longer working. I tried to get replacement solar panels but had no luck. I would gladly have paid up to half the price for a new solar panel. I will look for something else that has parts available and not just a 1 year warranty.
