5.0 out of 5 stars A yoga teacher who will recommend this video to students
I was surprised to see a reviewer in San Jose judge this tape so harshly. As a teacher, I sometimes see students who are doing yoga from a place of ego and this saddens me. 1.0 out of 5 stars Headaches
I have tried many yoga vidoes. I really wanted to like this video because I enjoyed doing the postures. But, every time I did the video I ended up with a horrible headache. Any all day long headache. I was told by a yoga instructor it was because there was no flow to the moves and they weren't done in a proper sequence.
I finally had to stop and throw the tape...

5.0 out of 5 stars A yoga teacher who will recommend this video to students, January 12, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Buns of Steel Mind & Body Series - Yoga [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I was surprised to see a reviewer in San Jose judge this tape so harshly. As a teacher, I sometimes see students who are doing yoga from a place of ego and this saddens me. Indeed some forms of yoga are more precise about alignment, while others just go with the flow. Ms. Baca gives modifications for all levels, covers all the major postures, breathwork, and gives a good relaxation at the end. I will recommend her tape to my own yoga students when they ask about a good all-around tape to do at home which covers levels up to intermediate. Even those of us who are advanced realize that it is always best to approach yoga with a beginners mind, and a compassionate one. Thank you Marguerite for sharing your wisdom and love with those of us who really love yoga.

5.0 out of 5 stars a wonderful yoga video at any level!, January 28, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Buns of Steel Mind & Body Series - Yoga [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This was my first yoga video and I thought it to be a wonderful one. I had never done yoga before, and I found it very instructional and easy to follow. Ms. Baca guides you easily through the correct breathing and postures, and I was able to quickly feel improvment in my flexibility, strength and stress management. I have since taken yoga classes and still find it to be a wonderful video that I still use. It's great for beginners, but it's not so "beginner-oriented" that you couldn't enjoy it on any level. I highly recommend it!

I first viewed Buns of Steele Yoga video two years ago and have been using it every since. MargueriteBaca is a very gifted teacher and the setting of the video is extraordinary I never get tired of using it. I highly recommend this video for all levels as Ms Baca leads you safely through the poses in a very non competitie and soothing manner.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT FOR BEGINNERS, May 13, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Buns of Steel Mind & Body Series - Yoga [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I tried a different beginners yoga video to help relieve my back pain, it made it worse. I then bought this video because it uses Hatha yoga. This one really helps. The explanationa of breathing and posture helped tremendously. Because of the step by step instructions Marguerite gives for beginners I can now use both videos.

4.0 out of 5 stars I haven't slept this well in a year!, September 5, 2000
This review is from: Buns of Steel Mind & Body Series - Yoga [VHS] (VHS Tape)
A lot of people had recommended Yoga to me because I have had some stress in my life and have had trouble sleeping. I also wanted to be "active" again, but found it hard to work out due to a past injury and well time. I scowered the Amazon yoga videos and bought this one.

My first experience with yoga was about a year ago and this guy was like a drill sargeant... and I was told that was how yoga wasn't supposed to be. So I took a chance on this video and I haven't felt sooo relaxed in about a year. This video takes you slowly through the poses which was perfect for me, becauase I am a beginner. Margurite's voice is soothing and her meditation is key after the challenging session she delievers well. I have recommended this video to several people and we all are happy with the results: relaxed, GREAT SLEEP and I have noticed my buns and legs are a bit tighter!

Magurite is an inspiration and I do Yoga now about 3-4 times a week.

5.0 out of 5 stars For peace and tranquility this is the video!!!, April 10, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Buns of Steel Mind & Body Series - Yoga [VHS] (VHS Tape)
If you dislike crowded yoga studios and military-instructors, this is the video for you. Yoga can be intimidating to an inflexible man, but Ms. Baca's graceful form and precise alignment makes it feel easy. Her soothing voice immediately relaxes you. From there you are guided into a series of postures that are demonstrated effortlessly. Unlike many teachers who use a military approach, Ms. Baca's style flows and feels natural to the rhythms of my body. This video is a wonderful, peaceful addition to anyone's living room. I highly recommend this video for anyone who wants to add 40 minuts of bliss to their day. I look forward to the sequel!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Word from Yoga Teacher Marguerite Baca, April 11, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Buns of Steel Mind & Body Series - Yoga [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Recently I became an internet user and was surprised to discover my video here and even more surprised to find such conflicting reviews. My sister from San Jose's harsh criticism caused me to reflect. The practice and philosophy of yoga ultimately leads to liberation from the effects of praise and criticism. A great teacher, Paramahansa Yogananda even wrote a song about this with a line, "Praise is sweet, blame a dream". And so it is my suggestion and wish for anyone seeking a yoga teacher, that they find one whom they resonate with, one who guides in a manner which calms the inner agitation and teaches non-defensiveness. Find that teacher who not only teaches strength and flexibility but also peace and joy. I've been blessed to earn my living as a yoga teacher for the last 15 years and even more blessed to have begun my own yoga and meditation practice at the age of thirteen. Since the yoga video I served as a consultant and model for the newly released book, YOGA FOR DUMMIES. I was hired by the esteemed teachers/authors, Larry Payne, Phd and Georg Feuerstein, Phd, two very knowledgable and genuinely kind people. And so I am grateful for the blessings and dedicated students that continue to come my way, because it is my sincere desire to inspire others to the true peace, health and joy that I have found through yoga.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Buns of Steel Mind & Body Series - Yoga [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I shall join the ranks in giving this a great rating. I was pleasantly surprised at the level of instruction in this video, which is aimed at true yoga beginners - albeit not totally unfit. I bought this and Buns of Steel Power Yoga with a bit of a twinge of embarassment, and found them both excellent, so to hell with the name, they have pride of place on my bookshelf.
This is true, well balanced hatha yoga, long smooth holds, no flows, well instructed, with modifications for different levels. She instructs the poses by mirroring them, making it easier to follow than most yoga videos, where they lean to the left and tell you tl lean to the left! And at 40 minutes it's easy to squeeze in, whereas sometimes I can't handle an hour or an hour and a half in the case of my Kripalu Dynamic! Highly recommended.

By A Customer
This review is from: Buns of Steel Mind & Body Series - Yoga [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I recently tried this video, despite having always been disappointed with video "workout" purchases. I was pleasantly surprised at this find! It is a high quality, totally enjoyable class, and something I plan to do regularly. Marguerite Baca is simply wonderful, and I highly recommend this video for anyone seeking an innovative educational yoga regime, whether they are novices to yoga or experienced practitioners. You won't be disappointed!

This is a great tape. It is perfect for a beginner, and well worth the low price. After doing the tape for the first time, I was so relaxed and felt so good, I nearly floated to work. :) I highly reccomend it.
