Book Description

Book 1 of the Burden Series.

Clara never asked to be special. She was perfectly happy e-stalking her crush’s blog, avoiding the attention of the Bronze Brigade clique at school, awaiting the next visit from her avant-garde Aunt Grace, and dreaming of a strange young man ... who feels too real to be only a dream.

But then one day, her world literally separates at the seams, as a blinding light rips her mother away right before her eyes. In one, inexplicable moment, Clara is tugged from a life where her biggest worry is how to avoid social scrutiny to having the burden of her mother's disappearance and her father’s subsequent unhappiness hoisted squarely onto her shoulders.

Precisely one year later, on her 17th birthday, the blinding white light returns. This time, the light brings with it more than just grief. It ushers in a cast of Guardians who have been with Clara all along, waiting for her to awaken and remember a promise she made in another world. When Clara learns what is expected of her, and the price she must pay to restore order, she can only hope that the still dormant ancient soul that lives inside of her is truly fighting on the side of Good.

Burden of the Soul grapples not only with the battle between Good and Evil, and Action and Complacency, but pits its unlikely heroine squarely against herself. Half of Clara is an ancient soul who made a promise to fight a war, the other half is an adolescent girl who never asked to be special.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Love July 30, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I first read this book in an early form. The book shook me and made me think about it for weeks if not months. I loved Burden of the Soul! I dove into the world of the characters - I was mesmerized, moved. As I turned each page I fell deeper and deeper into the vivid reality Kate Grace has created here. It felt so real. I could see the world in which these characters lived - the corner, the park, the ivy. I could feel the emotions of the characters - love, fear, doubt, insecurity and faith...I think this book is amazing! I am officially hooked! I can not wait for the next installment!

5.0 out of 5 stars SOOOO Good! October 20, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
This is the kind of book that you read in a weekend because you can't put it down. I even read it on my phone the day I left my e-reader at home! The last time I was in central park near the Castle I got really excited and started telling everyone there about Burden of the Soul. This is a great book by a very talented up and coming author!

5.0 out of 5 stars I hadn't gotten this into a book in a long time! September 10, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
When I started the book I immediately connected with the main character, Clara. She was the teenage girl that I had been oh so many years ago. As I continued reading I was pulled into the story. My heart raced and I giggled, my heart broke and I cried. This is the best read I have had in ages! I highly recommend this book to women from 15 to 100, and men who love an exciting story.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay read
Okay story line, but under developed. And I know there are cliff hangers, but this was ridiculous!

There were some distracting typos, and misspelled words.
