4.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME RPG!, August 29, 2010

This review is from: Bureau 13: Stalking the Night Fantastic (Paperback)
I bought a copy of this in a used book store in 2000. It's fun, quirky, and well-written. It's full of fun characters and situations. My copy has been well-worn over the years, and I've enjoyed reading it over and over.

Some of the game mechanics are a little frustrating, and when it comes to editing they should have done a better job. Also, the (extensive) equipment section could have been a little more detailed. These are the only reasons I didn't give it five stars.

If you enjoy "X-Files" type adventures, or any good RPG, check this one out. I actually hated the "X-Files" TV show, but I do enjoy stories about sneaking around in the night and flushing out supernatural evil. The game is engineered to allow players to create combat-oriented characters, magic-users, detectives, scientists, whatever. The emphasis is always on using your head and keeping your cool, though. Fighting is usually counter-productive, as it draws attention to the Bureau's activities and can result in injury to innocent bystanders. AND unlike the "Men in Black" heroes, the PCs have no memory-erasing device. They have to get the job done QUIETLY. . .
