5.0 out of 5 stars A+ from a parent, January 22, 2009

= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Burger Island (Video Game)
My kids got this game as a Christmas gift and they have played it and fought over it ever since. I've been extremely impressed by 2 things: ALL four of my kids, from 6 through 11, boys and girls, love this game; and it (incredibly) doesn't involve shooting, killing or otherwise violently eliminating any sort of opponent. While it's not violent, it doesn't appear too juvenile, which would turn off my older kids. They all love to show me and each other what they're doing (instead of playing in silence) and they're happy to reach new levels. It also seems easy enough to save their score so they can stop when I ask them to and they can restart later. So... lots of fun, challenging, no violence, wide range of ages, and even a great price - bonus!

4.0 out of 5 stars Challenging and Fun, January 2, 2009
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Burger Island (Video Game)
As another reviewer mentioned, this game is alot like Cake Mania and Diner Dash. I think it is a little more interesting because there is more variety in the things you make. You must remember the recipe for each order and make them in that exact order or the customer will not buy it and of course there is a time limit.

There are several different recipes you can unlock and buy for each category of burgers, fries, and milkshakes. It can get pretty intense. I think to make it harder, they should have made the player to be able to judge when the fries are done frying and the burgers cooking. Instead when you cook a burger or put the fries in the oil they will say done when hey are ready. You will never be making all 3 categories at the same time..in one level you will be doing just fries, just milkshakes, or just burgers. If all categories were merged in each level, the game would be a litle more challenging and fun.

You get 5 lives so if you do not reach your goal in the level you lose a life which is different than Cake Mania and Diner Dash. The only real problem I see is that the ingrediants are kind of small and close together so you can end up hitting the wrong thing on accident and ruining the recipe. Also touching the item does not always register which again can cause you to ruin the order. It's not a huge deal and does not make the game unplayable.

It can be very repetitive but will keep you on your toes due to the different difficulty levels (kiddie size, regular, and jumbo size) and variety. You do not get to purchase things for upgrades with your money..only buy new recipes. After a certain point the resaurant will be upgraded on its own. It's a very fun and entertaining and worth the $20 but no more than that. he graphics and sounds are also pretty decent.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nintendo DS Burger Island review, August 24, 2009
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Burger Island (Video Game)
Not sure about everyone else....but I'm on the easiest level and ..........whew!!!! It is definitely challenging! You have to make burgers as ordered (which is nice and easy at first) and as you progress, there are MORE burgers and ingredients added that have to be put on in a specific order or else your food is wasted and your customer leaves. And that isn't the end of it!!! Not only do you have to remember HAMBURGER recipes.......you also have to make french fries (and then various specialty flavored french fries)......and then milk shakes (and a whole bunch of specialty milk shakes). This game (at least for me) is challenging and I find myself thinking of burger recipes as I'm falling asleep at night. If you are on the fence about buying it.....I would recommend getting it. It's as fun and addictive as it is sometimes frustrating. If you like cake mania and diner dash.....you'll probably like this game. :0)
