What a concept! The first time I used this, it was mediocre in results, but I figured I might not have followed the instructions to the T. The second use, it worked beautifly and the nasty mosquitos were gone!

The key to proper use is the concept of dusk and what happens to a smoke/fog at this time. As dusk occurs, the air pressure changes accordingly and if no hard wind is blowing, the killing fog will head downward, flooding the vegitation that mosquitos will hide in. You get the hang of how the thing heats and produces the fog by timing your squeezing of the trigger for not too long and soon the fog will shoot out the tube about 6 or more feet. Wait for that to complete and repeat the process. I found you can get another 3-5 minutes of fog once you unplug it as the heating element is still hot, so you can go outside your wiring constraint to ensure a good safety zone.

Just keep in mind practice makes perfect and use the trigger sparingly until you get the hand of it.

I used to have a Burgess propane model before it was stolen from my garage. I bought the electric because I have a small yard and for me the extension cord is easier to use than propane.

Follow these guidelines. 1. Wait for it to heat up and start smoking before use. 2. Keep tank at least 1/2 full for good pumping action. 3. Use early in the morning or dusk to reduce wind (at dusk mosquitoes are flying and will be killed easier). 4. Use sweeping motion at base of bushes and foliage 'cause fog will rise and get into higher branches. 5. Wear breathing protection and gloves. 6. Drain tank and air dry between uses and DO NOT clean with water or it'll rust the parts. 7. Use wire to clean nozzle occasionally.

One application will reduce mosquitoes to 10% or less for about 3 days, but I only use it about every two weeks.

Good points: It's effective at killing mosquitoes, no dangerous propane gas, relatively light, better than sprays or candles or giant gas bottle killers or those stupid blacklight things.

Bad points: you are exposed to poisonous gas, cleaning it is a pain, extension cord must be drug around, it's not a pick up and use tool

This is a great fogger, it heats fast and works easilly. The only problem is you will need to fill the container more than half way to use it. If you have a small area you are going to fill and empty the sprayer back to the container. Do not leave the bug juice in the fogger, it will rot and clog. When you are close to finishing unplug the unit, it stays hot for a while and you can fog for a few minutes after it's unpluged

This fogger worked great in reducing mosquitos until the heating element broke. I've only used the fogger 5 x's, and on the 5th try, it would not heat up. Prior to that, it was working great. I followed all instructions on care and maintenance and removed the fogger fluid after every use and filled to at least 1/2 full. The element just stopped heating up. Will be contacting their customer service, so depending on how they respond, may change my rating later.

I bought two each of the Burgess 960 foggers.. They work perfect and cleared off over an acre of property while I was living in Battle Ground, WA... used religiously to clean out the mosquitos.. I give them a thumb up with respect to what they do, but..... both of mine have quit due to the thermal unit mounted on the heat bar inside the barrel, as if that wasn't bad enough, you cannot buy a replacement barrel, nor a replacement thermal sensor? Why, because no one can find these parts, they tell me they are obsolete? if they are, how is it someone is still building and selling the same model fogger? I would like to find out where they are being manufactured so I could buy two of the thermal switches and get mine working again.. tried Burgess.com, they have never heard of it, they only sell bulbs and flowers.. tried SEars parts, they represent the Burgess company and sent me two "wrong" barrels that couldn't be retrofitted into the housing.. any clues out there would be appreciated.. frhrwa(at)gmail.com if you can help..

This unit is perfect for my small backyard, It is ready to use after 2 or 3 min. warmup. It fogs very well and covers a large area in a short time. I am not too happy with the chemical fogger that comes with this device. It doesn't seem to kill the mosquittos even though I spray directly on the area where they are hiding, if I disturb them they swarm all around. I will purchase a different brand chemical when this one rus out to see if that is the reason.

Sprayed our yard night before a family picnic and it eliminated lots of mosquito bites - worked well but important not to pump to fast

The pump return spring that is inside the tank rusted in less than one year of very light use. This jammed the pumping trigger and the part will have to be replaced. Rather poor quality of parts.
