5.0 out of 5 stars Tricky Bernie
Bernie the burglar always makes me laugh. In this delightful short story he's up to his usual clever machinations in a burglary at Graceland. Highly recommended for Bernie fans and for people who like tricky twists.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not great but still Bernie
Not the best book I've ever listened to but not bad. It helped pass the time during a boring drive. Bernie reads a lot better than he comes across on tape. Do not make this your first Bernie mystery.

5.0 out of 5 stars You Can't Go Wrong With This One!, August 22, 2011

This is one of my favorite short stories featuring America's favorite burglar. If you're already a fan of Mrs. Rhodenbarr's favorite son, then this is a must-read.

If you're not familiar with Bernie yet, do yourself a favor and get this.

For just 99 cents, you can't go wrong here!

Bernie Rhondenbarr is a burglar. He always makes me laugh. Even when he is getting blamed for things he did not do. This short story was a quick read at bedtime. I soooo wanted more! Thank you so much to my family for Amazon Gift Cards to keep me in my favorite addiction......reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Burglar Primer, August 23, 2011
By
This is the first Bernie Rhodenbarr story I ever read (years ago in a certain gentleman magazine) and it got me hooked. For 99 cents it is a great way to become familiar with Bernie (and LB for that matter...if you aren't already) and his story style. If you like it, you have ten more books you can add to your reading list. If you are already familiar with Bernie, but haven't read this short story, do yourself a favor and buy it now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bernie rocks!, August 23, 2011
The Bernie books are a gift from the heavens -- you just wish you could slide into the bar booth with he and Carolyn, order a whiskey, and unwind from your day. Smart, funny, always delightful. If you've never read them, I'm jealous. Please Mr. Block, give us more!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent story, August 23, 2011

I've been a mystery fan pretty much all my life and Block's work is at the top of my list. Not many authors can successfully cross the line from the powerfully dramatic to the light-hearted humorous, but Block does it with the Burglar stories and novels, including this one. Think P.G. Wodehouse writing a Bertie Wooster mystery and you've got the feel of it (for me at least). Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars I love Bernie, even when he's short., August 22, 2011

I am so very grateful to Lawrence Block for making these Burglar short stories available as eBooks. This one was especially fun. Bernie Rhodenbarr, Elvis, a tabloid newspaper, and the wonderful Carolyn all in a few pages. What could be better? Well, a few more pages, but I'm just greedy. Excellent twist, but I had it figured out this time. I guess reading three burglar short stories in one weekend got me primed. Anyway thank you Mr. Block. I bought this one on the Nook store and read it with Nook for the iPad, which had a few page breaks missing, but that didn't present too much of a challenge. I loved it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Bernie the Burglar story, Uh Huh, August 22, 2011
I love pretty much everything that Lawrence Block writes and this story was no exception. Bernie is one of Block's series characters and always manages to get himself into all sorts of interesting trouble. In this case it involves a tabloid newspaper and Elvis Presley photos. Bernie extricates himself from his problem with his usual flair and panosh.

5.0 out of 5 stars My first Bernie, August 22, 2011
This Bernie Rhodenbarr short story was the first "Bernie the Burglar" story I had read about a year or so ago when I was reading Enough Rope (the e-version actually, which is on here and Nook as well). I found myself smiling as I read the story without even realizing it. I really found it to be a witty and just plain enjoyable story that got me hooked on this character who is very different from the other Block characters I had already read and loved before (Evan Tanner, Keller, and Scudder). I think this'll hook anyone new to Bernie and if it doesn't, read "The Burglar Who Smelled Smoke". If that doesn't hook you...I'm just not sure anything will...
