...that I had to find out about this new Grave CD through an Amazon recommendation. Why do American metal fans not appreciate this band enough for this to have been released in the states? Why do I have to order it from overseas, when Grave CD's should be just as accessible here as Entombed, and Dismember, and Unleashed? It's just not right.

What makes it even more aggravating is the fact that this is an awesome album. Ola's vocals have gotten deeper on every release since Back From the Grave (actually, since Hating Life, I guess), and they now sound very, very close to Jorgen's on You'll Never See. In fact, the riffs and overall style of the songs match up with that album more closely than on any of their others (IMO, of course). The tone of the album is more sinister, with more anti-religious themes and tolling bells, like on their early stuff. The title track, Burial Ground, is a classic Grave track, as good as anything they've done. The re-recorded Sexual Mutilation is a highlight, as is Bloodtrail, and to be honest, every other song on the CD. None of the songs are filler, and any Grave fan or fan of doom-tinged death metal will listen to it over and over again. People need to bring this band back to the forefront of the scene.

When I say it sounds like every other Grave album, that's a good thing! Ola Lindgren was one of the pioneers of Death Metal and this album proves the formula still works!

Burial Ground was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Ola! And although it's the same formula, that's what makes it great! Matti Karki from Dismember lends his voice to Dismembered Mind and Karl Sanders of Nile provides a shredding solo on Bloodtrail. Sexual Mutilation is redone from the Sexual Mutilation Demo and done well!

The highlight of this album, in my opinion, is the title track! An epic 7+ minute song to finish the album. Just like the title track of Dominion VIII!

If you're already a fan, you will be sure to get this. If not, it's as good as ANY Grave album to start with!
