Book Description

May 5, 2007
About the DVD Burke walks the walk and talks the talk in this no-frills, no-limit DVD, filled with wisdom and knowledge about everything from injuries to the origin of weight training, respectively. He also shares many anecdotes, such as the origin of the words, "Dumbbell and Barbell." Paul Burke, weight training, nutrition, and anti-aging expert, shows you how he works out and explains what the components of his "Burke's Law" are. For the very first time, Burke, who is a shockingly young looking 51 year old, allows you into the analytical and imaginative way of training in this true paradigm shift from the standard way that bodybuilders have used for decades to the revolutionary "Burke's Law".

About the Book This book is what genius really is. Paul Burke lived, breathed, ate, sweated, and lifted weights and built his body from the time he was twelve years old and continues to do so today at 49. Looking at least a decade younger, with a physique that many have said, "would make Arnold take notice," Burke has brought his world famous knowledge to the table in a complete script that involves everything from how you, the middle-aged man, can not only look your best, but do it without drugs, without injury, without gimmicks; just by following a guide set out for you to design your own routine according to your muscular-skeletal structure, your metabolism, your genetics and the test of physical and mental spirit. a. This is a book designed to walk you through the steps of weight training history; showing you along the way how, what Burke calls, "The Old Paradigm" has been taken and passed along for decades and continues to plague men to this day so as to make it nearly impossible for them to make health and fitness progress. He takes the weight training and fitness field and says, "no" to hours and hours in the gym, "no" to using drugs to enhance the body, "no" to strict "diets," "no" to all that we know to be "the way"; and he turns it upside down, s

About the Author

Paul Burke has a Master's degree in Integrated Studies from Cambridge College, in Cambridge, MA. He is a former bodybuilding champion, arm wrestling champion, an actor, member of the Screen Actors Guild, and a professor. He owns a successful business, and was decorated by the United States Air Force (USAF) for Meritorious Service, and won the Sikorsky Helicopter Rescue Award for his role in a life saving mission. While in the Air Force, he devised and implemented the first weighttraining program for use by the USAF (Europe). The most defining element of his life, he says, has been the job he held with a traveling circus and carnival after he ran away from home at the age of 16. Without that background, he reports, he never could have written this book.

Paul operates PaulBurkeFitness.com (also known as Paul-Burke.com and PaulBurke-Over40Fitness.com) and is presently looking for clients to be a part of his new study group using "Burke's Law." Those interested should order and read his book and/or contact him directly at his website.

2.0 out of 5 stars Confused?, January 29, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I was disappointed and confused after I finished reading this book. While Mr Burkes' enthusiasm is infectious, I found myself saying "what do I do now?" The book discusses "Finding your own range of motion", and "Training instinctively", but only a few specific examples on certain exercises. I don't feel I have enough information to now go and create my own routine, as directed to in the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars relevant and modern, November 14, 2006

(REAL NAME)
Many, in fact most, of the training information written and available, whether it's a book or a newsstand magazine, are written with a younger audience in mind...to witness the "Masters Class" category of building which starts at the age of 35.

Anyone interested in starting training after that age was left to founder around in information written with younger, often chemically enhanced, readers in mind. Certainly a recipe for unavoidable injuries or, at least, a good deal of time wasted in the gym and on daily macronutrient intake.

Along comes Paul Burke's book which sets basically everything on it's ear.

Outlined are training schedules for weightlifting, bodywork other than weights with the focus of mobility and longevity in mind and a method of creating a dietary plan that guarantees stable energy levels, fat loss and strength gains. To call the book sensible makes it seen average and boring...it is anything but that. It is much overdue new thinking and action for anyone over forty looking to start training and would prove an invaluable time and money saver for trainers of any age willing to tune out the current glut of misguided routines, eating patterns and unachievable goals. A willingness to follow a plan that at first glance would seem to simple to be effective is all that is necessary. No gimmicks or miracles...just hard work, determination balanced with active rest.

Burke also shares details of his personal medical struggles and how they have been held at bay through his continuing efforts. These make all the more potent his message and how it can apply to anyone.

I can wholeheartedly and without reservation recommend this book to anyone, man or woman. It is money well spent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great help, June 19, 2008
I have read Paul's book and knew instinctively he was absolutely correct. His training methodology does not emphasize how much more weight I can lift today but about form and technique. It is geared not just for those over 40 but for everyone. I really appreciate Paul's honesty about drug use in the industry and also how we can all reach our potential without using drugs. Muscle and fitness magazine routines or the latest craze will not work but will probably hurt you. Paul teaches about the uniqueness of our genetics and a routine has to be tailored to those genetics. I would tell any serious lifter to pay the money and use this guy, you WILL NOT be disappointed. I have had the opportunity to get training with Paul one on one. Simply put it was worth 10 times what I paid. It has revolutionized my training. I owe an awful lot to Paul
