I bought this trailer to use with my electric bike. It can easily carry a couple of large rubbermaid storage tubs for carrying groceries or other purchases, so this combo is now my eco-friendly alternative to driving around town for short trips. Not having front or rear walls I initially thought was a drawback, but now find it very useful for carrying longer items (like my inflatable kayak)!

The trailer is very lightweight, yet strong. The Burley trailer hitch system is very well designed and easy to use. While the trailer can be disassembled, I find that some of the lock pins are a bit tight and really not worth the bother. Fortunately, the wheels are very fast/easy to remove, so that makes the trailer "flat enough" for my storage needs.

The floor of the trailer is the same "plastic-coated canvas-like" material as the side walls. While this keeps the weight down, you'll want to add a firmer floor if hauling anything with unusual edges that might dimple the stock floor.

Overall, very pleased with this trailer!

Overall I'm pretty impressed with the trailer. It's incredibly light for how strong it is, and you almost don't notice it while pulling it behind you... unless you're going up a hill, then things get a little less carefree, but I guess that's to be expected from any trailer.

It's hard to tell from the photos provided, but there's no solid support platform underneath the bottom of the trailer. It's basically a rectangular frame with rounded corners, and the bed of the trailer is nothing but a waterproof nylon-ish fabric stretched tight between the left and right side of the frame, which is more than strong enough for normal use. Even loaded down with 40 pounds of stuff, the bottom barely sags.

Luckily the main part of the trailer comes assembled, and all that's left is to connect the side supports, bike attachment arm, and wheels, and you're ready to go. It took me less than 20 minutes to unpack and build the first time.

Flattening the trailer for storage is just as easy. The wheels pop on and off with no tools or fuss; the side supports take a little more wiggling but nothing too difficult.

My only quibble with the trailer is that the attachment hitch didn't fit on my bike, and I had to order a special one: Burley Bicycle Trailer Hitch (Classic). My bicycle is a fairly new steel frame road bike, and I felt it was a little weird that they'd package the trailer with a hitch that isn't universal. Plus it's frustrating getting a new toy and not being able to play with it right away.

The trailer comes with red and white reflectors, but considering how low profile it is I'd recommend getting flashing rear lights and/or a safety flag. Drivers aren't expecting you to be towing anything, and I've had one too many close calls with cars that try to change lanes right behind me.

This trailer is absolutely perfect for hauling all sorts of loads. Attachment is quick and simple. It easily fits two large plastic tubs. My only complaint is that the attachment rings for the straps are too close together in the center of the trailer. I found it much more effective to secure loads using bungie cords attached to the outer frame.

I bought this locally as transportation for my dog on days when I had time to bike him 5 miles to the beach. In retrospect, I should have bought a dog specific trailer because the side gates are not tall enough to provide him with a sense of security. After a week of "trailer time," he's still a bit nervous on it. The side gates next to each wheel are easily removable, but I haven't seen taller ones offered by Burley anywhere. Still, It is designed and assembled so well that I was thoroughly impressed while towing it. The turning radius doesn't limit my natural turns at all, and its footprint is small and inconspicuous when tailing down the street.

Burley Flatbed Bike Trailer
1-I stored the trailer, rear end on the floor, but ended up with a broken red reflector.
2-The axle/wheels are not centered on the trailer, leaving one with no option but putting all the heavy stuff at the rear end of the flatbed. I think it is important to minimize tongue weight on the bicycle rear wheel. I learned this from personal experience.
3-I ordered SLIME inner tubes as I've never had luck with asian made inner tubes doing their job for very long (but, of course, these will have been made in the PRC).
4-I don't know if the 100# weight limit Burley advises includes the weight of the trailer.
5-I looked and looked for an opaque tote bin container.
6-Rubbermaid was unhelpful about not having a listing of their products with dimensions on their web site; plus their tote bins are very heavy (but the claim is made that they are waterproof-not water resistant).
7-I thought Sterilite only made clear plastic tote bins but I found model #1945 at my local hardware store which was "haze gray" and fit nicely on the bed and both included straps were long enough to keep the tote bin secure around town. This model is definitely not water proof and water resistant would be stretching the truth.
8-But on a tour, I also would have to buy a large plastic trash bag (GLAD) to put over the tote bin
and I would also use the extra straps I had previously bought for my 1 year tour of Oregon (using a Wal-Mart $80 baby stroller).
9-So, the only thing I have to worry about is the 60 mph gust of wind which would hit the tote bin sideways and flip us over.
