Unlike prior review I feel that this book had some great photos. This book is a great addition to anyone's collection. My prior experence's with Karl Zimmerman's books are that they are all well done, with excellent photograph's. Would definetly recommend for any fan of Burlington passenger trains.

This book was exactly what I was looking for.
While specifically interested in the Silver Streak Zephyr which is only covered in one chapter, the book covers the history of CB&Q named passenger trains from the original Pioneer Zephyr to the final days of the Zephyrs just before the AmTrak takeover.
Each named train get at least a mention and there are many good photos and diagrams showing the trains and their layout.
I used to book to verify the accuracy of the train models I work on and I'm pleased with the amount of detail present in the book.
The writing is good and readable and covers everything from the reasons behind the various trains to what it was like to ride on one.

If you are into trains, this is a beautiful coffeetable book with great photos and interesting illustrations (maps, advertisements, brochures, menus etc.) pertaining to the Burlington Railroad's streamlined diesel-electric passsenger trains from the trailblazers of the 1930s to the Amtrak takeover in 1971.
The book arrived quickly and in perfect, i.e. new, condition even though the price was about 25% of the current list price. I could not be more pleased with the entire transaction.
