Richard Avedon's striking black and white front cover shot of an elegant and assured Melba Moore showing more then she ever had seemed to say it all. With the 1979 release of Burn, her ninth album, the Tony award winning actress and singer was revealing an altogether more outgoing and sensual dimension of her persona. Burn's production chores were handled by Euro disco titan Pete Bellotte and while Moore's previous club hit was the lush, dreamy Philly-disco fantasia of Pick Me Up I'll Dance, many of the songs here showcase the exhilarating rock/disco synthesis that Bellotte had perfected with partner Giorgio Moroder on Donna Summer's blockbuster Bad Girls album. In other words, this was the first Melba Moore album without any ballads. Includes 3 bonus tracks. Limited edition of 2,000.

It's been a long time coming for this to finally be on CD. This CD is many things. It's fun (the title track), it's campy (Miss Thing), it's disco (I Don't Wanna Lose Your Love). This is one of the last great dance records right before the end of the disco era. Melba sounds like she's she having a good time on these songs. Produced by the great dance music producer Pete Bellotte (working solo from his usual producing partner Giorgio Moroder), and features the hard pumping Bass by the legendary Marcus Miller. I used to do my cardio workout to this album back in the day. This music still does it for me 30 plus years later. I simply love this record. "Burn" is highly recommended if you want to have a musical good time or if you simply feel like dancing!
