... to those diligent denizens of amazonia who comb through my reviews and the comments attached thereto, just in order to cast their spiteful nays. Lutefisk is not the sort of consort I review most often, but "musical values" are universal, right? The group was formed in Los Angeles and made about three recordings, of which this was the last, in 1999. Whether they failed to find their audience, or whether they split apart because of a certain discomfort with social conventions, hinted perhaps in the title of this CD, I have no inside knowledge. They had fun while they lasted, and that's about the best I can say for most ensembles.

Lutefisk was one of the prominent bands in the mid 90s, from the Silverlake district of Los Angeles. Dallas Don is the lead singer. This CD has some of their best songs, especially Tin Man. The lyrics come through clearly; Don has a fine voice. Amongst the local audiences, they got a good reception. I and others thought they might hit it big.

Sadly, this CD was apparently their last effort. The band fell apart a few years later. (Along with the entire Silverlake "sound".) There was a brief reunion in 2005, when they played 2 shows, at Spaceland and the Echo. At these shows, many of the CD's songs could have been heard live again, perhaps for the final occasion.
