Product Description

Ex-covert op Michael Westen has a new client. Paolo Fornelli is Helmsman for a yacht in the Hurricane Cup—a winner-take-all race financed by the super-rich and preceded by a week of highstakes gambling, high-risk business, and high-class attitude. Paolo’s family has been taken hostage. If Paolo ever wants to see them again, he must make it to the final race—and lose.

To find the kidnappers, Michael will have to infiltrate high society and enter a deadly game against deadlier opponents in a world where money isn’t the only thing worth killing for…

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun TV Tie-In Novel, May 28, 2009
Michael Westen is a former spy who now resides in Miami, trying to figure out the mystery behind his burn notice. Until he uncovers the truth, Michael takes odd jobs helping people. His latest client is a man who races a yacht in a high profile race. His family has been taken hostage, and he has been ordered to lose the race if he ever wants to see them alive again. Michael must not only learn who has the man's family, but hold off the Italian mafia who want nothing more than to win the race.

As a fan of the TV show, I had to read this tie-in novel. I was pleasantly surprised. All of the action, adventure, and humor are wrapped up in this novel. It reads like you're watching an episode, with Michael's frequent spy tips and snarky comments.

Michael's friends Fiona ("former" IRA arms dealer) and Sam (former Navy SEAL) team up with Michael yet again. And Michael's mom and brother make appearances and lead to more comedy relief as Michael must deal with trying to find his mom the perfect gift. Tod Goldberg has deftly written these colorful characters in a brand new adventure that will surely appease fans of the show. Bond fans shouldn't miss this series on TV or in print.

If you are a fan of Burn Notice on the USA network, you will enjoy this quick read. It is written in the same style as the program with Michael doing a lot of narration. The ending was a bit lame after the big build up to the climax. But it is a fun read for a fan.

Anxietylike its cousin, actual physical painis a natural occurrence. Its your brains way of reminding you that even if your ancestors didnt see a saber-toothed tiger lurking in the low underbrush, there was a high probability that the tiger was there, licking its chops, anticipating the rich and nuanced flavors found in your average austra lopithecine. "e;
