3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the show
The book was alright but it made Weston more of a jerk than in the television show. It was good enough that I finished it but I probably wouldn't get any more in the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun TV Tie-In Novel, May 28, 2009
This review is from: Burn Notice: The End Game (Mass Market Paperback)
Michael Westen is a former spy who now resides in Miami, trying to figure out the mystery behind his burn notice. Until he uncovers the truth, Michael takes odd jobs helping people. His latest client is a man who races a yacht in a high profile race. His family has been taken hostage, and he has been ordered to lose the race if he ever wants to see them alive again. Michael must not only learn who has the man's family, but hold off the Italian mafia who want nothing more than to win the race.

As a fan of the TV show, I had to read this tie-in novel. I was pleasantly surprised. All of the action, adventure, and humor are wrapped up in this novel. It reads like you're watching an episode, with Michael's frequent spy tips and snarky comments.

Michael's friends Fiona ("former" IRA arms dealer) and Sam (former Navy SEAL) team up with Michael yet again. And Michael's mom and brother make appearances and lead to more comedy relief as Michael must deal with trying to find his mom the perfect gift. Tod Goldberg has deftly written these colorful characters in a brand new adventure that will surely appease fans of the show. Bond fans shouldn't miss this series on TV or in print.

If you are a fan of Burn Notice on the USA network, you will enjoy this quick read. It is written in the same style as the program with Michael doing a lot of narration. The ending was a bit lame after the big build up to the climax. But it is a fun read for a fan.

I'am a huge fan of Burn Notice. So to my surprise they have the series out on paperback. And let's just say it doesn't disappoints. This time Michael is hired to rescue an alleged kidnapping. But as always nothing is as it seems. It's has intrigue and excitement. I like how it stays true to the characters such as Fiona,Sam,and others. You will love it.

this book was just ok. i honestly liked the first book "the fix" more. Tod Goldberg totally nails the narrative style of the series and the attitudes and styles of Michael,Sam,Fiona and even Nate. However, the plot and story just kinda roll along with nothing really terribly exciting happening. I would recommend this book to die hard Burn Notice fans only. If you don't watch the show, you probly will not like this book.
I would totally love it if Tod Goldberg wrote a Burn Notice book with Michael Shanks character Victor in it.(yes, i know Victor's dead on the show-but the book series hasn't even touched on that plot line yet!) It could happen. That would be awsome! I'd pay well over market price for that!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun Adventure, May 26, 2009
This review is from: Burn Notice: The End Game (Mass Market Paperback)
I got hooked on the Burn Notice TV show and found the two books while looking up information about the shows return. If you are a fan of the show, you'll should enjoy the books.

The author spends a bit more time with Sam Axe and shows how he digs up some of his information which is fun. All of the shows elements are present, Michael Westin's spycraft 101, cover ID's, the relationship struggles with his mother, brother, and former girlfriend Fi. The only thing not really present is Michael taking another step closer to finding out who burned him.

Overall, The End Game is a fun side adventure to the Burn Notice show's main plot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Action, Adventure, and Laughs with Michael and Company, May 5, 2009

The Hurricane Cup, a yacht race of the rich, has come to Miami. Normally, Michael would just ignore it, but this year, a friend of Sam's needs Michael's help. Gennaro Stefania, who will be piloting the family yacht in the race, is being told to throw the race or his wife and daughter will be killed.

When Michael begins poking around, he quickly finds things are more complicated than he imagined. Suddenly, figuring out who is behind the threats might not be enough. Can he stay alive long enough to solve the problem?

Fans of the series will find another enjoyable book to tide them over until the series returns. Once again, the characters from the TV show are spot on. Even the first person narration harkens back to the voice overs from the show. The plot seems a little muddled, but when I went back, thought about it again and reread some parts, it did sort itself out, so I was probably just being dense. The humor from the show comes through as well. Heck, some of the lines in this book were actually funnier than the TV show.

What I found most interesting was that there was no attempt to deal with the burn notice aspect of the show's mythology in any meaningful way. Of course, considering how quickly that is changing on the show and how much lead time there is for the books, that makes sense. Frankly, I didn't really miss it.

These characters truly are wonderful in any form. If you are a fan, get this book. And if you aren't, what are you waiting for? This is as good a place as any to jump in.
