3.0 out of 5 stars It's good, but...
...I just can't get over the fact that the first song- Where Did We Go Wrong- is a seemingly blatant ripoff of the song I Know You Love Me by The Smoking Popes. The music is the same and even the first sentence of both songs are eerily similar.

Overall, Magna Fi's album is good with some solid songs. I especially like This Life, Beautiful and Seconds, Minutes, Hours.

i remember hearing about magna fi about being on this years ozzfest, and it surprised me, as they were the only straight forward rock band amidst harcore bands like lamb of god, unearth, and the like.i saw them open for sevendust a few days ago with low expectations, especially from what i had heard about people going to see them on ozzfest.man they were wrong-magna fi tore it up!the first song had like a 3 minute jam at the end and the lead singer mike just tore it up.their whole set (although just 6 songs and seeing mike lose a tooth after tripping over wires) was amazing and i had to grab the cd."where did we go wrong"-man.that song is an amazing jam-i can rock out to that song anyday."down in it" is the single and it should get the band recognized-very catchy and fun."beautiful" has sort of a techno feel to it with some effects and "tv killed me" goes back to the "where did we go wrong" style of grooving guitars and drums.these guys are a fun, less edgy version of shinedown.they remind me alot of doubledrive and socialburn but they arent a christian band (if that matters to anyone).great fun cd and a great jam out album.good job guys.definitely pick this one up.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Effort, December 16, 2004
This review is from: Burn Out the Stars (Audio CD)
I saw these guys at Ozzfest and was impressed... to the piont that I needed to buy this CD. I am relatively pleased with the CD and look forward to hearing what they come up with next. These guys certainly weren't the typical Hardcore Rockers one would see at Ozzfest... but they were good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent alternative music cd from an unknown band, January 9, 2003

This is an excellent cd from Magna-Fi. I have an extensive collection of 200+ cds and this is one of my favorites. It has the flavor of foo-fighter drive in the songs and a nice mix of fast and mellow songs. Song 12 ( Bradbury heights ) is one of my favorites. I will always like the song. Excellent guitar work and lyrics that are incredible. Enjoy for anyone who owns this cd

5.0 out of 5 stars great debut...what's next?, December 12, 2006

This is an awesome album....hard and fast, but with a mainstream feel to it, almost a pop metal sound. But don't let that scare you off. This is great stuff, raw and yet refined at the same time. A fantastic debut. The song Down In It is definitely killer. I also like Where Did We Go Wrong and TV Killed Me. What's next for these guys? Please don't tell me this is it! There's way too much talent here to let fade out with only one album under their belts. More Magna-Fi please!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Blew my socks off!, October 6, 2004
This review is from: Burn Out the Stars (Audio CD)
This is easily the best CD I've heard in a long time. It's one of the few that I listen to from beginning to end without skipping a song. I'm glad that I just happened to be in the right place at the right time to catch these guys live. If I hadn't I'd be missing out on one of the best bands around.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Stars are Shining on Them!!, October 6, 2004

I love this album. I have been a Magna-Fi fan for years and love the previous projects the band members were in before. I may sound partial because Magna -Fi is from my backyard. I was listening to them in my car and my 4yr. old said " Mommy crank it up PLEASE!!! these guys ROCK!! " Anyone who knows about 4yr. old girls know one thing they like what they like.
The magnatism of this band comes through on this album. It is very rare these days for a band to make it and I believe these will go far, they just finished a tour on OZZFEST what more can I say!

4.0 out of 5 stars unlike most mainstream rock today..., October 6, 2004
This review is from: Burn Out the Stars (Audio CD)
This album is great, some of their previous work has shown up in their new release. In my opinion, this rock is very unique. I have a difficult time telling someone what they sound like because they have their own style. Mike has an awesome voice and CJ plays some really awesome riffs throughout the album. Their new single is great, but there are other songs that I even think are better. Buy this album, for sure.

4.0 out of 5 stars These guys rock hard and play melodic tunes also, October 16, 2003

I enjoy most any tunes these great guys put out. They aren't new to the industry. I know the Szuter brothers have been playing in their own bands since they were kids. Now mid 30's they continue their serious pursuit of playing to everyone and anyone and earning respect everywhere they go. Why oh why haven't they made the big time yet? Waiting for that one tune that sends them over the edge? I say release "Bradbury Heights" and they'll have their 'radio hit'..No drugs, no nonsense, great beat, and you can understand the words... how unusual these days!
