5.0 out of 5 stars Astounding Work..., April 16, 2005
This review is from: Burn to Shine 01: Washington DC 01.14.2004 (DVD)
This DVD had more than just music. It told the story of the end of a house that was destined to be burned to the ground. In the final hours of its existance, 8 local DC bands (Q and Not U, the Evens, Ted Leo, and others) get together and each play a song in front of a fireplace in what used to be the living room.

What's most haunting about it is conclusion (ecspecially the last image that you see). Highly recommended.

The music is great and the video is beautiful and the whole idea is just so flawlessly put together. For a special treat, look for the photo gallery extras so you can hear outtake audio of Ian MacKaye having a play arguement about whos hold true ownership of his hat with a little kid named George.

Bob Mould's performance is also fantastic.

The next one of these videos has been shot in Chicago and it has excellent bands as well.

I can't honestly say I've watched the whole thing yet, but I really liked what I've seen so far. It's not as good as the Portland or Chicago ones, but definitely worth viewing at least once.
