Couldn't be better,

When I first listened to this album, I thought "gee yet another same old hardcore album". All I have to say is don't be fooled. This cd will grab you by your emotions and twist you around until you are jumping up and down while running in circles. The first song immediatly hits you hard and gives you a taste of what you are about to indulge in. Then you get to the song burned alive by time. This song hits you hard, then shows you the bands more melodic, emotional side. Then it rips and tears you up until you get to the next song Dear Live Journal. This song is the stand out song, as it is the most melodic. It starts with amazing riffs and beautiful vocals only to be followed by the hardcore sound you have already heard in the previous 3 songs. The next couple of songs are a mix of ET's melodic and heavier sides. Then my personal favorite track Taking Care of the Dead Fish hits you the hardest out of the whole album. It's amazing breakdowns followed by the beautiful vocals and backup screaming vocals only make you feel like you have made a right decision by buying this album. Do not pass up this oppurtunity if you are a fan of Hopefall, From Autumn to Ashes, Eighteen Visions, or the Hope Conspiracy

now more than ever,

It is such an honor to have my first review be a first review itself, and for it to be one of my favorite releases of the latter half of 2002. The first thing that I want to say about ET is that they are talented and fairly unique, though they do play a sound of hardcore that is getting to be quite popular...sort of...The first thing I thought about this record was: too many breakdowns. However, I must add that I had only listened to the first couple tracks at this point, which are basically breakdown/transition/breakdown (they are good tracks, though). I don't want to lead you to believe that the rest of the album is devoid of breakdowns, because it really never lets up, but it does branch out in several different directions. Dear Livejournal, Funeral Grade Flowers, and Heavy Number One feature as many clean vocals as hardcore vocals, for instance. Also, the metal influences are still there, as they are seen in the occasional complex riff and at times in the slightly underused double bass. You could say that ET has become both heavier and more melodic since their debut, and that is somewhat accurate. And if that isn't positive progression, what is? If you need more convincing, check out No Donnie These Men Are Nihilist which has a link from theprp.com. Plus, Track J (they are lettered, not numbered) is a Depeche Mode cover song, which may better their Sunday, Bloody Sunday cover. The lyrics are also quite good, and the song titles are wonderfully cynical and tounge-in-cheek. So, if you like hardcore with some melody, some sing-alongs, clever lyrics, and bunches of heavy hardcore breakdowns, check out this album before the trendy metalcore kids are telling you about how much it rocks.
