The story is well written, only has a couple typos that I saw, and keeps your interest from page one to the end. The ending is fantastic and you will see Loretta come of age, so to speak.
The characters are well written and described. Yes, one or two are kept in a sort of mystery fog for a bit as it suits the intrigue in the story. You are going to be able to relate to all of them, especially Loretta.
There are no sex scenes in this book other than a couple nice kisses.
Loretta "Bitters" Loveless is a barmaid in the Stupid Cupid Saloon. She makes a mean drink, loves Dwight Yoakam, and matching people together with their soulmates.
When her boss ends up dead in a freak accident involving a 50 year old mounted ox head. Bitters soon realizes that there is nothing as it seems in Broken Hearts Junction. When a handsome stranger starts appearing nearly everywhere she goes, Bitters realizes something else too. Nobody is as they seem in Broken Hearts Junction either.
This is a really good story folks. Worth the price. Enjoy your book.
Bitters has helped hundreds of people find true love, but then her own “soulmate” leaves her in Broken Hearts Junction to pursue a career in country music. She’s spent three years pining away for him, willing him to return home to her, with no success. She starts to lose faith in her own abilities and decides to give up matchmaking permanently. Her boss ends up dead in a freak accident involving a moose head. People in the gossipy little town speculate about her possible involvement in the crime- prior to his death, the boss had announced he was turning the bar into an all-sports, all the time bar and when that happened, Bitters was free to seek success elsewhere. Even if she didn’t really like him, or the way he treated her bar, she knows no one deserves to die like that, and sets out to figure out who did him in.
I’m a big fan of the author’s Christmas River series, and was intrigued by the idea of someone who gets flashes of insight about other people’s soulmates. (OK, the idea of a “soulmate” actually makes me want to urp, but I am a sucker for happy endings.) I ended up liking this way more than I thought I would.Read more ›
