The theme of this story, part of the "Orbit Unlimited" novel by Poul Anderson, is that American colonists seeks to leave Earth for the planet Rustum, the only "earthlike" planet yet discovered by humans. At enormous cost and sacrifice, they board an interstellar vessel and depart Earth. Earth has become Statist, with the Government aiming to educate young people away from believing in libertarian ideals. But as the starship approaches Rustum.... well, more would be telling.A good yarn by one of the greats of science fiction. RJB.
