The Grand Battle begins with the search for allies in the Northern Kindoms and ends in The Burning that will change all Owldom forever.

Soren and his band are sent to the mysterious Northern Kingdoms to gather allies and learn the art of war in preparation for the coming cataclysmic battle against the sinister Pure Ones. Meanwhile, in the Southern Kingdoms, St. Aggies has fallen to the Pure Ones and they are using its resources to plan a final invasion of The Great Ga'Hoole Tree. About the Author

Kathryn Lasky has long had a fascination with owls. This led her to research their life and behaviour, thinking that she would write a non-fiction book about owls to be illustrated with her husband's photographs. She soon realised, though, that this would be rather difficult since owls are shy and nocturnal creatures -- so she wrote a fantasy series about them instead. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

More About the Author

Hi Readers! Thanks for coming by my author page. I've written all sorts of books - from fantasy about animals to books about science. One of my favorite animal fantasy series, Guardians of Ga'Hoole, is a major motion picture. I liked writing about Ga'Hoole so much that I decided to revisit that world in a new series, Wolves of the Beyond. Visit my website, www.kathrynlasky.com to see a slide show about the real wolves I researched for the series and for the latest update on the Guardians of Ga'Hoole movie. All my best, Kathryn

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Ga'Hoole, October 10, 2004
A Kid's Review
This wasn't the best book in the series, I think, but it was a terrific ending. (At least I think it's the end) It was well written, and a great book. I won't say too much, so I don't spoil it. I think if you've finished Ga-Hoole, turn your attention to the Warriors series, by Erin Hunter. Those are longer, and most Lasky fans will enjoy them.

5.0 out of 5 stars and here comes the burning of the hoots, October 5, 2004
A Kid's Review
Here it is at last: The Burning. it all started when Soren and the chaw of chaws (and with Eglantine) are sent to the Northern Kingdoms to unite it's warriors in order to destroy The Pure ones. but when Soren and Gylfie are seperated from the first time and recive no assurances from owls of the Northern kingdoms he realizes he must either kill his brother Kludd or be killed by this monster. can he accomplish it? this is definately the best of the best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Owls go to Far Away Land For Help, January 25, 2005
A Kid's Review
Kathryn Lasky's The Burning is truly a book for the masses. In it Soren, a barn owl takes his friends and his sister on an epic adventure to the Northern Kingdoms to find help for a war. In this book humans are extinct and all that remains of them are castles and man made things like Watches. But as soon as they get there they split up on separate missions. Soren and his friend get separated.

I liked this book because my favorite animal is an owl. This book is one I recommend to all who like adventure.
