Great stuff for creative people,

I got this book because a friend who knows I work as a photographer also knew I was getting pretty burned out on certain parts of the job and pushed me to try it. I was sick of the constant hassle to sell my work and the clients who want the same old stuff and leave no room for creative new ways of working. I was ready to quit. This book is well written (read simple, without big words and pretentious theories). It was easy to understand the theory behind the exercizes in the book and even easier to do them. It's written so you can do it by yourself or with a partner. I definitely liked doing it myself but having a partner who had similar problems would have been good too. The results were very good. I had been compromising and thinking it was the only way to make a living. Now that I don't compromise, I'm making for than I did before and having way more fun. I've only done the one section so far, the one on creativity burnout, but several of the others looked very good too. If all the sections work as well as the one I did, this book could help a lot of people

Amazing book,

I bought this book when I was feeling hopeless about my marriage. It just wasn't fun anymore. What surprised me was that the book, which had been recommended to me by my pastor, covered so much more than just relationship burnout. I did the relationship section first and felt much better. Some of the excitement was back. Then I noticed the chapter on childrearing burnout and, since the source of many of my upsets with my wife went back to how we dealt with the kids, I decided to do the procedures in that section too. This time my wife joined in and we acted as partners on the drills. That was great. It helped the relationship with the kids and also further improved the one with my wife. After that, I realized that my enthusiasm at work wasn't what it once was either, though it hadn't gotten as bad as the homelife, so I did that section, again partnered with my wife. At that point, I came home from work with so much more energy that, not only did the job improve, but life with my wife and kids got better yet. Next thing I was doing the section on creativity and spirituality, again with my wife. There are a couple other sections in the book that I haven't done because they didn't seem like a big issue, but every one of the ones I did was fantastic and they just built on each other. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who isn't having as much fun in life as they used to. I'm not the world's best reader, but the book made everything very simple and yet very effective. It is one of the best things I've ever done for myself.

So much more than I expected,

I expected that this book might help me get over feeling so burned out on the job. It did! But it also helped me in areas I never expected or realized I needed. After 15 years of marriage, I was feeling less excited about my wife. The excitement is back. So is my feeling about the benefits of fatherhood. It's fun again. I haven't even finished the last chapters yet, but already there's been a big difference. This is such a practical down-to-earth book and yet it's very powerful and lots of fun to read. Thanks.

Extremely Helpful Book,

This book doesn't tell you what to do, it doesn't give advice, and it doesn't evaluate your situation for you. But it does give you all the tools you need to do the job yourself! I had so many realizations while doing the exercises included, I wouldn't trade them for all the advice in the world. I just needed a few tools and then I could see for myself very clearly what caused my feelings of burnout and what to do to feel good again. I really prefer to get my help that way. Sort of like being taught to fish rather than handed a fish. If you prefer to have ideas handed to you on a platter, you might not care for this book. But if you'd prefer to be given the tools to come up with some great ideas on your own, you will like this book and it will be useful. It's as simple as that.

It did exactly what it said it would do!,

I bought this book when I was tired all the time, depressed and feeling so apathetic about life that I was ready to chuck it. What amazed me was that it worked. (I'm amazed I wasn't too apathetic to order it) This book covers every single area of life when it comes to burnout. It doesn't just give you a bunch of theories about how to fix it. It leads you through a series of procedures that actually change the way you feel. Now I'm helping several of my friends to get excited about life again acting as their partner in doing these procedures and it's great. I actually see them changing before my eyes. Highly Recommended!

I read this book about a year ago when I was trying to help a client get back on track career-wise. He had no idea what he really wanted to do with his life and was bouncing back and forth between wanting the security of staying where he was and wanting the freedom to do something more exciting and challenging. There are some very simple but powerful prodedures in this book that can be used to help yourself or a friend (or client) discover their real passion in life. It's a great book for career counselors or other people in the helping professions. Use it for yourself or to help another. Very powerful stuff!!!

I never believed I could have the wisdom of age and the excitement of youth at the same time. Life had just beaten me down and burned me out on the way to gaining all the experience and maybe some wisdom too. This book helps, through practical exercises, restore a tremendous sense of excitement to every aspect of life including fatherhood, work, religion, creativity, and a dozen more areas. Great stuff!!

I learned about this book from my boss work. I wasn't sure I wanted to take the advice to see if it would help me get my career on track. Now I'm glad I did. It not only helped me get the fun back into my career. It also helped me with numerous other areas of my life. I would recommend it highly.

Great book,

I needed to know what to do with my life to get out of a rut and start working at things that really mattered to me. This book was a tremendous help in that effort. The exercises in the chapter on finding your purpose in life were worth the price of admission alone. Each chapter can stand alone or be used with the others. The chapters cover things like relationships, creativity, spirituality (not religion), and careers. I've used the drills in four of the chapters so far and loved the results. There are still six more chapters to go and I will probably do them all. I'm glad I bought the book!
