Green way to garden,

These peat pots are great for the indoor or outdoor garden when used in flats or trays. As stand alone pot they can be a little messy as the pot itself becomes saturated. Best way to use these is to water the flat and let them wick up. They retain plenty of moisture but not to much so when your pot begins to get dry you know the soil is becoming dry.I have found a mix of mostly Coconut Coir with about 20-30% Sphagnum Peat Moss makes a wonderful clean organic soil for these pots. You can also mix in a small amount of slow release organic fertilizer with your soil to aid in growth.

I tried these for the first time last winter when I finally got around to starting my plants indoors. I placed the plants on top of a large plastic tray with grooves (actually a "boot tray" from Lowe's) that worked well in keeping them moist, but preventing excess moisture. For the low price, these definitely are worth the investment for any plants you want to get bigger before transplanting. I used them with many varities of tomatoes and peppers with good success.----TIPS---- >>Be sure to rip open the bottom and sides to allow root growth when transplanting. >> Keep them from getting too moist as they do retain moisture very well. (Some of my seedlings got too moist and did not make it). The only criticsm I have is how slowly they break down. When cleaning up my garden this fall, I found big chunks of these still in the soil. At least eventually they will disintigrate!

Much easier for seed starting and storage. Less wasted space in trays, and easier to water with no waste.
