Product Description

The Burris XTR Xtreme Tactical Rings are all about point-of-aim security and durability. The super-strong yet surprisingly lightweight, six-screw aluminum rings anchor scopes in place on any Picatinny rail or Weaver-style base to deliver unfailing return-to-zero. Designed and built for the rigors of tactical shooting and massive recoil, they are not out of place on varmint rifles or big game rifles that may be exposed to the abuses of hard hunting and magnum recoils.

I purchased the high version of theses rings to mount a Nikon ProStaff 3-9 x 50 Black Matte Riflescope (BDC) on my Remington 700 SPS Tactical in .308. They worked perfectly. My friend and I(He is a retired USMC Gunnery Sgt and was a member of the USMC shooting team) took the rifle to the range yesterday and sighted it in. After initial sight in, we were getting consistent 1" groups at 200 yds. Now he wants one...

First off I am not a fan of Aluminum rings period! due to aluminum being a soft metal , I only purchase Steel rings and bases.
But having said that I will say that this set of rings would give any set of expensive steel tactical rings a run for their money!
I settled on these due to availability of the steel set I wanted and assumed a 6.5 grendel wasn't to large a calibre to be handled.
seems to be doing the job well!

I returned these rings only because I ordered the wrong size. If you mount these on a tactical base you'll find you need to go down at least one size for your ring height. I used the same rings just medium height on a tactical rifle I built on a heavy barrel Rem 700. The rings are sturdy and lightweight.

These are the best rings for being lightweight, strong, minimal. Plus you can replace the caps with mini-picatinny to mount a reflexive sight on top of your scope, which is what I did, and it looks great. The High XTR ring gives 3/4" between top of upper picatinny and bottom of ring, which is perfect to just clear the BUIS with a Burris 4.5-14x32 Timberline Burris scope or Leupold Mark AR 3-9x40 mod 1. Tried the Extra High rings (1" between top of picatinny and bottom of ring) but they were too high for these 2 scopes. The High fits just perfect. Plus I like the fact that, since the rings are aluminum, you have 3 screws on each side. Another thing, there are a lot of cheap rings out there that don't fit the scope perfectly, and they make it up by inserting a cushioning strip inside the rings. These are perfectly honed so that you can tighten them down for zero movement, and when you remove them, there is not a mark on your scope. A+

First, I am not an expert on scopes or rings, but I am sprinting through the learning curve and have blown a lot of ammo on the range and gas to the sporting goods stores swapping rings and scopes to play with on my Sig .308.
I finally settled on these rings and am very happy with them. They are a bit blocky and not too pretty, but they definitely are getting the job done.
6 groups of 3, re-torquing every 2 groups, and the 3rd torque showed no movement. Neither did a final check when I got home. Last 2 groups were spot on (for the cheap ammo I was playing with - 1.5moa out of bulk ammo.

These rings are milled aluminum, rather than cast and provide a precision fit for any 1" diameter scope to be mounted to a Picatinny rail. The description does not state it, but the bottom of the (High) ring sits .75" above the top of the rail. "Extreme" is the right word to describe these rings. The ring itself is 1" wide and uses a lockwasher to secure the nut on the base. There are 3 screws on each side of the ring top to secure it to its base. I use blue Locktite on each screw before tightening. Recommend torgue for the ring top screws is 20 in lbs and the base nuts 65-100 in lbs.

Really good quality rings. I mainly purchased these for the ability to swap the top clamp for a pic rail. These were mounted on a .300 win mag w/ a Nightforce scope. Since this purchase, I bought a set for my Barrett .50/nightforce combo. They are THAT tough. Been thru multiple scope/ring combo's on the .300. Pretty sure this will be the last set I need to buy.
